Auditions begin tomorrow.
A mix of me auditioning for bands, and me auditioning bands. Also me auditioning individual musicians for a few idea's I have.

Really feel worn out at the prospect of going through that whole rigmarole again. Why do musicians have to be such hard work. I had one female singer who responded to a internet ad I posted, refuse to answer the phone. The silly bint wanted to conduct some kind of text message conversation. All I could think was 'how do you ever hope to front a band when you're too scared to answer the phone?'.

Why are bloody musicians such damn hard work. It's like juggling cats.

The run down as is now.

Tomorrow (Sunday) band much like the one I left.
Monday Drummers, 3 of em.
Tuesday Jazz/Funk bassist
Wednesday A songwriter/guitarist/singer (for his project, looks quite good)
Thursday Some punk band by arty photographer types. (genuinely looking forward to that one)
Friday a rockabilly outfit.

Why can't people just want to rock'n'roll and have some fun. You wouldn't believe how despondent and apathetic I feel towards the whole week. I know if one meeting proves to be mutually pleasing I'll be lucky.

Don't know what to tell ya big guy, I supose that when you do find the right combination, it will all be worth the "Cat juggling"
One thing I can tell you from interviewing prospective emploees for years... Just have fun with it, with no expectations, there can not be disappointment :D Once i got my head around that... I found the humor in all prospects as well as the right candidates.

Good Luck and don't forget to laugh a bit

Bill

Rip it up Niki, or to put it as bluntly as ripitup555 would; Rip, it, up Niki!

At least by the end of the week, you can look back, give yourself a pat on the back, and open a cold one. :D

I've only been playing electric guitar for a little over 2 and a half years, but one day I hope to aspire to be such a musician that I find my schedule full as well. 8) Just look at it that way...

Jimbo

Mate thats nothing on the effort I've put in, answering ad's and posting ad's for the last month.
You could start tomorrow and be in the same position in probably less than a fortnight.
The real wounding realization for me is that I love being on stage playing more than I love playing guitar.
Quite a unhappy chappy at the moment. Feel like I'm watching what I could never have had reach the point I don't want it anymore.

Doldrums me. Sorry

I understand bud. :)

I know what you mean about answering and putting out ads, but I guess what I mean is that from what I know about you from the forum, you got a good thing going. To me, you've reached a kind of special status among the peers here, and I (and a WHOLE lot of other people) look up to you on this forum.

I really hope you start feeling better though

good luck Mr. Nik. reading your post made me remember my dream gig. i'd be a piano player in a hotel bar. there would be the usual regulars who i would know by first name. then there would be the tourists who you only see once in a lifetime. ah yes, then the wedding crowd. drunk bridesmaids. i'd know every song ever written and make tons of cash from tips alone.
yep, just me and my piano.
