Blacktop Series: why didnt they...

make a mustang model???? why is it that we have a million different strats and only one mustang (obviously the strat is more popular so there are more models, but still, theres only one stang model....).... fender, please stop neglecting the mustang and give it something new!!!

Because they have the Jaguar, which has the same 24 inch scale length and can do everything the mustang can. Usually the main difference between the two models where the switching and types of pickups, but with the blacktop series they'd have the same switching and pickups. So no reason to produce a Mustang >____>

plus the guitar i'm GASingfor the most now is a blacktop tele hh maple fretboard candy apple red. its affordable so i'm gonna buy it

shouldn't you get something else other than a mustang?

yea im still lookin at that jag... might pull the trigger soon

... also, im thinking of having a kill switch put on the stang while keeping all the original controls.... thoughts?

as for the topic: its not really about the blacktops specifically, but that mustang fans get shafted for everything... id love to see an HH (or HHH for that matter) mustang with a special adaptation of the controls that could also go split coil... that would be pretty damn cool eh?

The Tele HH sound was what Diaz used on many of the early Steely Dan albums. If you have any early recordings, check 'em out! :wink:

i wish they would make a cheaper version of themustang they make now. i would love to have one and prefer them over strats but with the only one they make selling for $1000 and thry make 20 different strats unter that i mean seriously there are people who would buy mexican standard jaguars and mustangs and jassmasters with the sibgle coil pickups but not even consider them where they are now.

the msrp on the site is usually WAAAAAY higher than actual price... go to a local store and ask what they want for one (NOT guitar center)

Fender did not produce a Blacktop Mustang because FMIC, after conducting extensive market research, determined that there is not a sufficient market for them to recoup the necessary tooling and production costs involved in bringing a Blacktop Mustang model to market. (in short, Fender knows that not enough people would buy it . . . because it sucks

)

or perhaps because they dont market it.... it definitely DOES NOT suck, and every person who has played mine has been absolutely amazed with the feel of the neck and the tone. fun fact: if you dont market something, nobody buys it
