Not asking about how often to change strings or how to setup the guitar after changing strings. Those topics are all available if I search.

Instead, I just finished changing strings on my Tele and it lead me to wonder: Does anyone else find changing strings oddly relaxing?

Now that you mention it yes...sitting on the floor with the guitar, strings, and my wire cutter; quite relaxing. Does anyone change them by alternating sides; starting with low E than high e, A, then B, d then G. I've been doing that for a while to keep even tension on the neck. Don't know if it does anything, but it's symmetrical

Any time I have my hands on a guitar whether it be playing it, changing strings, modifying, etc. I find it quite relaxing.

I love it. It's very enjoyable to sit in front of the TV, all of your gear to hand and the Guitar that you love sooooo much in your hands. Taking off the old strings, giving the fretboard a nice clean while you have full access to it, cleaning around the pickups and the pickguard, restringing it and letting the new strings settle and then hearing them sing for the first time......heaven!

I like changing them. I sit on the floor and do a guitar "M.O.T"
I go over the whole thing, cleaning and polishing it then I put the new strings on. I also do it alternate sides, always have.

I find it relaxing too sometimes. Do I like it, NO. I rather be playing eventhough it takes me 15-20 min to change them.

i LOVE setting up a guitar, changing out the strings and cleaning the hell out of them... but then i don't do it for a long time. So i pretty much go over a guitar in super detail once and then don't.

I love changing strings, it gives me time to listen to music. And I've been pretty insanely busy lately so it's one of the only times I get to sit and listen to music other than right before I go to sleep.

I like changing the strings on my guitars,it allows me to inspect them for anything that needs fixing, cleaning or adjusting and the sound of a guitar with fresh new strings is unbeatable.I think it helps develop your closeness to your guitar.

I'm still exploring string brands and gauges, so for me it's a real adventure. I know the guitar will be cleaned, polished and in tune, just not sure what it will sound like.

Cheers,
