Besides my Fenders, I love Gretsch guitars.

Who else here plays a Gretsch? Please post a pic of your Grestch and share a story about it.

Anyone here thinking about getting a Gretsch? Post your questions if you have any.

Here is my 6121 Roundup.

It's from 1999, so a few years before Fender got involved with Grestch production and improved things. A new bridge and TV Jones pickups are on the to do list someday. Any of you that have 'updated' a pre-FMIC Gretsch to present specs please share your experience.

nice guitar for sure. what pups does it have in it now, I couldn't tell from the pic.

My main guitar of choice is Guild followed by Fender.

It has the stock ceramic magnet Filtertrons which sound a little muddy compared to the vintage correct AlNiCo magnet Filtertrons that Gretsch has been using the past few years. TV Jones pickups are even better, but very expensive, so I'm fine with what I got for now.

We got something in common with Gretsch and Guild - both are part of Fender's "other brands" now.

The vintage alnico flitertrons are something special, no doubting that.

We do have that in common although I prefer Hoboken or Westerly built Guilds, but my main acoustic that i dearly love is a Corona made Guild D25. Here is my Starfire II. I don't really have a lost of interest in Fender built Guilds.

Here's my modest contribution. It is my 5120 and I love her to death.

Image

No special story about it except that a year ago, I went to the guitar store to take a look around and I saw this guitar. I tried it and I bought it right on the spot. There was no way I would leave the guitar store without her. Never regretted it.

I have a '66 Chet Atkins Tennessean with the original HiLo Tron pups, it was originally the usual burgundy colour but was refinished in black before I bought it in '77.The Tennessean as you would expect is great for old Beatles songs especially when paired with an AC30.
