ok ive been wanting to do a project.
i figured that a squier would make a nice
base to build on. im not a huge fan of squier but some of them play pretty well actually. heres what i found on craigs list.

its a squier standard. mint shape with no blimishes for $89.00
figured i couldnt go wrong. its a bass wood body also.
im planning something like a george lynch screamin demon
bucker, and a noiseless in the middle, and a tele in the neck.
i will go for a more modern trem and locking machine heads.
should make a great goto beater take anywhere guitar.
what do you guys thing?

Good call Junior, I tucked a white Squier Strat, that came in the pawn shop, behind a bunch of stuff in the back room hoping John wouldn't sell it before I get the hundo together for it. 8)

thank you sbls, im glad you agree with me on this one.
its a nice looking guitar in my opinion, kind of a blk on rust.
i think i will have it playing sweet by yrs end.
im not sure which type of trem to go with yet though.
its gotta be good though.

I think you should be more adventurous.

The brave don't fear the grave.

Give it a re-fret, after you've scalloped the neck. Block the trem and cavity out. Re-cut it for a floydrose.

Add some optical killswitches to get that really cool Morrello effect.

The world is your lobster. It's a good bit bigger than a oyster.

If you bugger it up, no biggie. Just create a thread about putting it right. You'll never make as many first (and second) time mistakes as I did (where's that hitting yourself round the back of the head with a hammer emoticon?). All I ever learnt was what I got wrong first time around. Everything after that was a learning curve up and a improvement.

Go on be a rascal.

+1

Seriously tempted to sort one of my guitars out with some kind of touch Kill switch. I have a diagram somewhere that will allow you to change the kill switch from push to kill to push to make....if you get what i mean!?!

Anyway, good luck with your project Way cool.

you call it a kil swtch and i call it a on/off.
ive used them for yrs. i usually use the 1st position as the off on a 5way
and wire the second position as if it were the first, skipping the bridge/middle option altogether.
ace got me into that with coldgin. he would turn down the volume on the
rythem pickup and use the bridge. we couldnt do that on strat types.
ah the mother of invention took over lol.
anyways, this is a standard on all my humbucker guitars.
after ace showed us the way, EVH showed us the possibilities.
then eddie moved on to volume swells.
eddies V swells will smoke ole tom any day of the week.
the throw on ed's volume controls is a little different than the regular control. they can be had for a reasonable price too.

That sounds like a cool mod.

Cheers
