There is some phenomenal Christian Rock out there.

Start with Third Day. In my humble opinion, one of the best rock bands out there, period!

Start with their 2008 release, Revelation. Fantastic album!

Chronology I & II are good overviews of the rest of the material (going back to 1995) and I recommend Live Wire as a great live album. There's even some good worship oriented rock on Offerings & Offerings II.

Other bands to check out are Switchfoot, MercyMe, Audio Adrenaline, Jars of Clay, The Afters, Newsboys, Casting Crowns, House of Heroes, Sanctus Real, Natalie Grant (not to be confused with the more cotemporary Amy Grant), Caedmon's Call, Addison Road.

You can always find good Christian Rock reviews at www.jesusfreakhideout.com which is a long running treasure trove of info on the Christian Music genre.

Hope this helps! :D

Enjoy!

Hey Thanks all and keep em coming I like Casting Crowns wow they are great. Yea I think the title of this topic is a little odd but I Found a couple of "new" bands that had fender sponsers on some of their websites and thought I would check them out a band called WAVORLY and listening to them I wondered what genre they would fit into and they are considered contemporary christian rock... so I was trying to find some other bands out there in the category They have some amazingly musical songs and high flight society. but thanks and if anyone knows any others post em
Here is the Wavorly video I found its called Part One

To the OP:
Here are some suggestions just off the top of my head. All different styles really, but I just put them a general order from softer to harder. :)

Rock: Audio Adrenaline, Sanctus Real, Wavorly, Relient K, Switchfoot (especially the album "Beautiful Letdown"), Third Day, Toby Mac, Showbread, Neon Horse, Falling Up, Family Force 5, Edison Glass, Leeland, Robbie Seay Band, David Crowder Band, The Almost, Anberlin, Copeland, Project 86, As Cities Burn, Lincoln Brewster, Phil Keaggy, The Myriad, The Elms, House of Heroes

Hard Rock: Day of Fire, Decyfer Down, Pillar, Discple, Skillet, P.O.D., Kutless, Thousand Foot Krutch, 12 Stones, Flyleaf, Fireflight, Seventh Day Slumber

Metal/Hardcore: Underoath, The Showdown, Inhale/Exhale, War of Ages, Becoming the Archetype, Demon Hunter, August Burns Red, Haste the Day, As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada, Spoken, Staple

For the most current rock acts look at the lineup of Tooth and Nail records.

For metal and hardcore look at the lineups of Solid State and Facedown records.

how about:
Tell me where bigfoot lives
or
Where to find the Loch Ness Monster

the lyrics are just so... unimaginative...

Guys, music is music and good music is good music regardless of the lyrics IMO. There's secular rock which sucks and there's Christian rock which sucks. And on the flip side there are also some really great bands out there both in secular and Christian music. :D

I'm pretty sure that Robert Randolph is Christian, I saw him open for Third Day and Switchfoot and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The dude smokes on lap steel, he totally rocks. And you don't get on stage with Eric Clapton unless you know what you're doing. ;) And Lincoln Brewster and Phil Keaggy aren't slouchy guitarists either.

And the lyrics can get pretty deep too, they're not all "Jesus is my friend" warm fuzzy fluffiness. I always preferred listening to harder rock than what you'll find on most Christian radio stations. Anything pop/radio friendly is more often than not going to have some pretty shallow lyrics. That goes for any music, not just Christian music.

Man I think TGS just about covered the gamut. Lincoln Brewster has a new album out next week called "Real Life." I've heard it and its good. The man can tear up a Strat.

"Christian music" is just music with a different message. Here's some more...

SuperChick, Sidewalk Prophets, Salvador, Big Daddy Weave, Did someone mention Addison Road? 33Miles.

Third Day is pretty good.

I haven't seen anyone post DecemberRadio yet, they had some pretty poppy singles (drifter, find you waiting) but their first album rocks really well.

Arjay

Also his album Jammed has some great, well jams on it. It's all instrumental.

On the Blues-Rock side of things-
the Glenn Kasier Band

And later Resurrection Band is better than earlier-Reach of Love & Lament esepcially.

checked it out and wow!

I'm going to have to learn some of their songs. I'm currently giving lessons at church to some of the youth and the music director. Some of their stuff seems like good stuff to try to teach.......not to mention just rock out to. My son would probably like them alot too. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, they're really good too. Saw them in concert last year. The guitarist is very talented. The drummer is actually from my neck of the woods.
