I've decided to try out some octave pedals. I would specifically like one that does the "octave up" effect as well as the octave (or two) below pitch (Charlie Sexton of the Arc Angels uses an octave "up" pedal on several songs, but I don't know what type).

I would like for it to do the octave below pitch, too. Is there a pedal out there that does both?

Thanks in advance!

The ElectroHarmonix poly octave generator does 2 oct up and 2 oct down.
You don't get the note confusion either. It costs a lot.

Myself I'm a octave addict. My main setup is a wah into a cheapo danelectro 1&2 octave down. That runs into a octave up fuzz with a normal fuzz effect in the pedal running parallel alongside the octave fuzz effect. So you can blend the types of fuzz. Which all then goes into a other load of nonsense and a boss pitchshift which blends in a 4th down effect. It can get messy if not controlled properly.
The wah helps do this, as you heel down the wah you get more focus on the lower octaves, toe down emphasises the octave up of the fuzz. And it wah's too. I like when the octave effects get confused and you get the oddball sounds.

I'm currently toying with the idea of a delay with a pitchshift on the delayed signal. I can't find one from anywhere except for the eventide thing. I just don't like digital effects and the thing costs a fortune.

Mate if I can work it anyone can, you'd have no problem. I just plug in and play on the wah pedal. All you really have to watch is your gain and delay levels. The octave effects don't really add that much to it especialy if you run em after the gain effects.

What I really love is the note confusion when you're bending strings or playing chords and the pedals don't know what to make of it. It's the only reason I stay away from polyphonic effects. It's too hard to confuse em.

I had a Mutron Octave Divider way back in the 70's and it was fun. I sold it during some rough financial times and got $600 for it. Vintage ya know.

I'm sure the newer one track better. Mine could only do one note at a time one octave below but it had a fuzz thing like a Dan Armstrong Green Ringer that gave sort of an octave higher. It didn't sound like a fake electronic guitar either, it actually sounded like the guitar you plugged into it.

They can be tricky and the one I had you needed to pick pretty cleanly.
I suggest going out and trying some out to see what fits your needs. Like I said, sone don't like to see more than one note at a time.

The super octave doesn't, the pitch shifter does.

I believe that Roger Mayer (Jimi Hendrix' electronics tech) produces a pedal that mixes the note you play as well as octave up and down and any combination of these effects. He still produces the Octavia octave up pedal also. His products are a bit expensive but are head and shoulders beyond the competition.Sorry I can't find the link at the moment.

:?:
I come from a small town in Texas, and I was raised by simple folk. Could you post a picture or a diagram of this part of your setup? Maybe I could wrap my feeble mind around your concept.

That one is high on my list, but I'm still researching.

Any other suggestions?
