hello everyone.. dont know why it took me so long to join this forum...
maybe because I have been weary of music forums with aggressive know it all newbies and the "yo dude" attitude... Ive been concentrating on fishing forums more in the last few years . Im a surf fisherman and that is an equally powerful obsession as guitar playing...

I was thinking of buying a Cyber Twin SE and looking through the web and wound up here. :) so hello ...

I am a Turkish American (born in Istanbul grew up in New York City) in Brooklyn then Astoria queens then long island...

I overcame a handicap in my hands to become a full time professional guitar player. At age 23 I got my first break and was one of the first guys to ever do a Jimi Hendrix tribute (aside from the wonderfully talented Randy Hansen) ... I left the USA at the height of my promising career and returned to Turkey to try and help out that country when they were in some really terrible times politically with kids shooting each other in the streets each brainwashed by a different ideology.. you know that leftist vs rightwing stuff. Rock music brings people together and it made a difference here too.. Now many years later I can look back and say that I tried to do some good for the world outside of just the regular trying to be the best guitarist thing etc..

So Now Im no longer a youngster, but still rocking :) I do over 300 shows a year , and have decided to come back home to the USA and "give it a shot" again.. so I am gearing up and making friends.. so maybe thats why I was directed here because God works in strange ways...

So any way hello everyone.. if your interested in my take on playing guitar "and having fun doing it" you can do a search under "Awesome John" on you tube...

I am making new friends and contacts every day in preparation for my return to the USA. So glad to meet everyone here.

I'm thinking of buying a cyber twin SE amp to do my many summer gigs tours I do here along the southern coast of Turkey. How do these amps hold up? Do any of you have any experience with them? I was sad to see fender discontinue them. I think maybe they were to expensive to make?
Or did they have issues? Please let me know if you have any info on these amps..

stay well
warmest regards
Awesome John

P.S. Oh by the way I am not full of myself, my name is Asim Can Gunduz it is pronounced very similar to Awesome John and that is what all my English speaking fans call me and everyone calls me that now... so thats why I use that name... because no one knows me by my real name because they cant remember it or pronounce it. So Awesome John I am
 :)

Good day to you sir. Welcome to the forums.

Now you simply must clear a few things up for me.
Do we call you John, Asim or Awesome?
How do you fish and surf at the same time? It must be really hard to keep balance when you're reeling in a big one.
(Just kiddin)

Unfortunately I have no experience of the Fender Cyber series amps. Just wanted to say welcome to the forums.

Hi AwesomeJohn!

Welcome to the Forum! :D

I just had a peek at some of the vids of you on Youtube.

WOW! Your nick name is well deserved and nice Strats too from what saw. I’d be very interested to hear more about them and maybe a few pic’s if you’re up for it.

I reckon you’ll like round here. I’m sure a man of your talent and experience will have a lot of good stuff to contribute.

Cheers!

Andy

Hi John, from me too a big welcome! You've joined a great forum here, I hope you enjoy it! :)

Great work with the guitar! Man I wish I could play like that... ;) I just watched some of your videos on youtube too, and saw the clip of "Honky Tonk Woman" from 1998. I think I know the bassist who sings in that one, is it possible that he came to Germany at some point and worked in a music shop? He sometimes mentioned doing big TV shows etc. back in Turkey...
Probably stupid to ask but he was a fun guy who could also play the keys very well. I may be mistaking him 'cause I've never seen him so young (:)) and with long hair but I think his name was Serdar. Sorry for bothering you. Keep up the good work and good luck on the search for a good amp!

hey Buddy everyone calls me Awesome, its very close to how my name is pronounced, Surf fishing is a great sport full of wonderful good people. We don't use actual surfboards but fish the surf zone semi submerged wading in the water like trout fisherman except we get blasted by waves.. its a real adventure and the fish are very strong.. its great fun. Thank you for the warm welcome.

Thank you for your kind words, The strat like guitars I use are made at my shop. I love strats but hate bolt on necks so I made a bunch of "multi laminate" through neck stratish guitars that could do more tones and stay in tune. Plus they have cool leds in the neck. Everyone wanted to buy my guitars and then we made a few here and there for friends and then we stopped before we became businessmen which kills the musical soul... and for me the number 1 thing is to play! I will pğost a few pics of my crazy guitars later on this thread.

Well I have a different approach than most SRV Jimi guys... I wanted to bring the fun back to the whole rock guitarist thing because it got too serious and classical disciplined etc... I just wanted to go out there and go nuts. :)

Welcome to the Forum awesomejohn! Let us know what amp you you purchase and if you like it. I always thought the first J.H. tribute was the Robin Trower Band

His name is Serdar Civalek,

He was my bass player in the Baba Blues Band,

Serkan was one of the most gifted young guys I ever met, his talent was there but he was a very tough guy to work with back then.. he was really young drunk and girl crazy , and at times would be very aggressive so we had to part ways... I am sure that he will be successful wherever he goes because he was so talented. But he was a horror to work with so I left the band. For me respect for ones craft and band members and the audience should come before anything. He was just young and out of control back then.. I hope he cleaned up his act by now because he is a talented guy.

Well sir it looks like you succeeded! I was watching that thinking 'This guy is like Yngwie Malmsteen, except he's got personality and is likable. He's all about the show and not just about how good he is'.

Well done mate. Your one in a million.

Nice one Awesome. There are a few guys here who like to build their own too. I'm very much looking forward to the pics of your crazy guitars. They sound cool. 8)

Oh thank you so much for the warm welcome nikininja , Andy, jeffo46, nutter and everyone...

You guys give me hope that when I finally make it back to the USA and start touring there again that there will still be an audience left that wants to hear rock and "have fun" let off steam and sing along. Most of the stuff I see on the net nowadays from the USA is about gangsters and demons. Good to see folks that just want to enjoy the "event" .. thats what my approach is, I try the keep the little kid in us alive and not get too serious because Rock was created to not be too serious but more of a blow off steam kinda thing..

let me get some pics of my crazy guitars if I can post them...
