Welcome to the Forum cavsrock08! All of the suggestions so far are good, I would bring my guitar to parties to entertain my friends and after doing that for a year or so was asked by several local musicians to join their respective bands. I picked the one that I liked the best and in a year after that started my own band. Once the word gets around that you can play there won't be a shortage of offers. Enjoy!

Place ads in every music store near you and go to every open mic night you can. Meet people, make contacts, get yourself plugged in to your local music scene. Good luck!
