Gun control is about control. The US wants to do much of the same. Take away a citizen's way to defend themselves then the government can screw them anyway they want, welcome back to slavery. Criminals will always have weapons, the worst of them have armys.

Fiasco is the word to describe this whole gun registry debate both sides of the debate have made both good and bad points and over a billion dollars has been thrown at it and it's still not resolved.Either way the criminal element is going to use restricted and unregistered firearms no matter what.I really don't which side makes the most sense as I can see good points coming from each side.I abhor guns anyway, all my inlaws are avid hunters and I don't fault them for that as they are respectful and careful with their guns and they aren't obsessed with them as some people are. There was a guy arrested here a couple of weeks ago with dozens of restricted firearms and even explosives and he had been amassing this collection and even making his own AK 47 style gun without anybody knowing. It scares me to think how many unbalanced individuals are out there with the same kind of arsenal just waiting to go off like a time bomb. Anyway whatever comes of it as long as it makes life safer I don't care which way it goes.

Most gun laws are a jokes!!!! The law should be that any one can carry as long as they are over 21 with no previous mental history, not a convicted felon and a legal resident of the Country. END Those found to carry when not meeting the law should face harsh penalties both imprisonment and financial.

That money pit was one big major joke.
Made it a nightmare for law abiding folk to get and legally register firearms for hunting, and did absolutely nothing to slow down criminals.

Even if they actually bought one, it unlikely any criminal would be stupid enough to try to register a rifle (which is all that long-gun registry was for) .
And most seem to use handguns in their nefarious activities, strolling through neighborhoods with a rifle is a bit obvious and attention grabbing.

The gun registry was a make work project. it was a way for the government at the time, which was extremely soft on crime, to pretend it was doing something, while not addressing the issues of illegal fire arms. it was a way for them to create more bureaucracy. It was a way to impose a new form of taxation on law abiding citizens, and it was a way for them to pander to hysterical leftist lobbies, and to expand government.

it needs to go. it has accomplished nothing of any benefit to Canadians, it has cost us entirely too much money.

ABSO-FRIGGIN'-LUTELY!

The soviets enslaved their populace with the KGB, GRU, MKVD, etc.

Over here we have the IRS......

Gun Control works…..
Look what these fine upstanding, law abiding citizen leaders were able to accomplish for their societies after implementing it….

Governments don’t fear unarmed citizens; which means they can control us more easily….

i like my guns and the freedom i have to own them. i am not a criminal and my prints are on file with the FBI. i don't even have as much as a parking ticket.
i could list my reasons for why i support our 2nd amendment but they are obvious to others who feel like me.
i'd much rather hunt and harvest my own food. to me, it's much more humane. i pray for those who depend on kroger for food. convenient? yes. necessary? not at all. when kroger can't provide food, i can. and i'll have the means to do so and protect myself from those who can't.
i don't like this stuff nevin.

Indeed!

There've been many times when I wasn't able to sleep next to my wife because of military commitments.

But that 1911 has always been nearby, even in slumber.

There will be a bunch of other dead hands before they disarm me....and pry mine away....because if you take away a person's God given right of self defense, you leave them at the mercy of their enemies.
Hitler said something to the effect of,"it's easy to control a populace when you treat everyone as a criminal"....

For what it's worth, I havw always guns. I just resently took and passed my class and test for CCP. After a back ground check that is. I keep my guns in a safe that only I have access too. My home, family and belongings are safe. I Pray I never have to use them.

Thanks, cvilleira

I lived in Maryland for some four years while assigned to a federal agency headquartered in McLean, VA. My work often took me into Washington DC proper but I always felt safe since packing a weapon and riding in an armored Chevy Suburban was a routine part of the job.

Nobody argues with an Uzi.
