I saw him a few years ago here in South Florida, and I would definitely see him again. Yes, he talks and tells stories, but they are really interesting and add to the atmosphere of each song.

I had good tickets to see Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck, and Robin Trower. A buddy of mine was getting married the same day, so I scalped the tickets and went to the wedding. Stevie died less than a year later, and I never saw him live.

I told my friend he better not ever divorce that girl, since I missed SRV to watch him get hitched to her.

Go see BB.

SRV's death was an unforeseen occurance; we can all (unfortunately) foretell that a diabetic in his 80s could be lost to us forever very soon.

Something I didn't take into account is that next month my Dad is taking two Saturdays off work to take me to my gigs. I don't know if they'll let him have another one. I need the car for one of the gigs which is kind of far away but the other is in town so I can hitch a ride with the rest of the band so maybe Dad won't have to take that day off. Unfortunately I don't have any friends who would want to go see B.B. King with me. Maybe some adults would, but they're usually busier and why would they want to spend an evening away from their families to take a kid to a concert? I guess this is why my friends are always so obsessed over their boyfriends, they come in handy for stuff like this.

I'm going to have to go through a lot of trouble to make it happen, and I'm going to probably end up spending two month's worth of my paychecks but I'd be kicking my butt twenty years from now if I didn't at least give it my best shot and try to make it.

saw him twice. i'd see him again. class act for sure.
if anything, go out of respect for a man who's dedicated his life to music... and i mean real music. you know, the stuff that pours out of your soul, into your heart, and through your veins 'til it reaches your fingertips and expresses itself on 6 strings. he's awesome and don't let any dime-a-dozen critics tell you any different.
maybe he's old, amybe he's lost a few of his chops, but his soul is still in his music.

I really do hope you make it TGS, I know how much you appreciate the Blues, and BB will deliver! It will be an experience like nothing else you've known and I'm sure it will influence you even more. If I was anywhere close I'd offer to take you there myself :) Good luck!

I remember the first time I got to see BB 20 years ago, it was a small restaurant in the DC area... he had some kind of a cold so he couldn't sing or talk too much so he told us he'll be playing Lucille more than usual, I was ok with that :) What a show! He had an amazing tone, playing through a small Fender amp cranked all the way up! I did not want the show to be over...

Definitely go, no telling how much longer BB will be touring so see him while you can or you may regret it.

I missed out on my chance to see Buddy Guy the other night and I regret it already, he very seldom comes to my area.

I saw BB King live with Buddy Guy back in February. Buddy was great, BB...not so much. I guess you have to take into consideration that he's 84 or 85 years old, but he did more rambling during the show than playing.

But in all honestly, any playing he did was absolutely astounding. It's a good feeling to hear a living legend play guitar. We won't have BB forever, so go see him live while you still can! You'll regret it if you don't (even if he does ramble)! :D

as for your first post, i see where your coming from.
ive heard that he talks more than he plays by far.
i like the style he plays but from the last 20 yrs he pretty much just fills in guitar parts here and there thoughout the songs.
not something i want to pay that much to see honestly.
he writes good songs indeed but ive never held him high as a guitar player.
not saying he cant play, but its the fillin part that bugs me the most.
ok so im going to hell for that im sure lol.
im sure the show is good and the story that goes a long with each song is entertaining, but i want to see some playing for that price.

Get over the typical American "its alll about me" attitudes

Try to imagine just for a minute all BB has done for music, Race realations, Our country's image around the world.

BB brought me back to the guitar after a ten year lay off, He paid the cost to be the boss, his voice tells his age and its like refined Gold !!!

That last post sounded kinda preachy I know.

Hey we are on the edge of the end of an era, the guys who gave us this thing we call the blues in its many facets are all going home soon.

I would do a lot to have been able to see Albert King, Albert collins, SRV
Lightnin' Hopkins ect........

Sure am thankfull for DVD's !!!!

Go, pay some scalper whatever it costs. You'll forget the dollars but you'll always remember the man. Man, the gigs I missed because I decided I couldn't afford it - I still regret. And the gigs I went hungry to pay for I'll never regret.
