I would be contradictory but I would buy it as soon as it came out!

I'm not a big fan of 'Signature' models-I went through a phase where I wanted a guitar that 'big name' players used, but I realized that I'm not buying a guitar for them, but for me. I also don't see much variation between signature models and some 'normal' models anymore that would justify the cost. If it works for me, great! If not....

Funny, but I don't see anything said about female guitarists here. I wouldn't mind seeing or playing the Bonnie Raitt Strat (with the big headstock), again-but I wonder why Avril Lavigne has her own Squier Tele Signature model as she doesn't strike me as being known as an exceptional guitarist. I could think of other females that could/would rate a model (think Chrissie Hynde and her Tele, or Debbie Davies and her Strat, or Susan Tedeschi and her Tele).

That being said, how about a Hendrix (Miami Pop Festival)/Frank Zappa Signature Strat with a Green Ringer onboard and a Barcus/Berry pickup in the neck (yes, IN the neck)? THAT would be different, and Zappa actually had the guitar done that way. Google it!

I would like to see a Buddy Holly Strat. It would also be nice to see a Don Rich Telecaster, especially a silver flake model.

George Harrison (the blue psychedelically painted one)
Lowell George
Ritchie Blackmore (bring it back please)
Pete Townshend (a second vote)
Dave Murray (a second vote)
Uli Jon Roth
George Lynch
Chris Duarte
Terry Kath

are all possibilities, though for a lot of them I don't know how the strats would be different from models that are currently available. Maybe make a non-Custom Shop version of the Robin Trower.

Call me crazy, but personally, I always thought it would be inspiring for a nobody to create one. It would be by a person not necessarily of super-human talent who, although certainly able to play, does not possess any remarkable musical pedigree to speak of. It would simply be the apogee of someone who has been using a specific model of Fender guitar for decades as his or her #1. This person would surely have thought out what would or could be the best of the best for putting together say, the ultimate functional Strat without going overboard on the frills. Call it, "The John (or Jane) Doe Signatureless Strat" or, "The Nobody Caster".

He would definitely be one to deserve it. He was the first Strat hero, FYI. :D

You're Crazy, But You're Right. That would be a cool Contest for Fender to have (at least it "looks good on paper"). Participants could send in thier Ideas For a Peoples Strat., and a Panel of Artists with Signature models could choose the winner(s). Then Fender could produce it and give us all one :) . Or sell us one :|

Excellent idea! I would offer two points differently though:

1. NO panel of Signature Artists should be making this decision. Rather, it should be confined to the decision being made of, by, and for the (little) people. The way I figure it, these Artists already got what they wanted and let's face it, some of them are clearly eccentric in their ways and/or requirements. Further, many of them openly flip-flop their allegiances between guitars, specifications and even manufacturers even though they have been paid to do otherwise. Besides, this is about us.

I would suggest that the most popular combos suggested by 'us' could be prototyped at a NAMM show or something and played by other "private citizens" present who would decide which one they would like to have the most in a "stranded on a desert island" type of scenario.

2. For the person whose ideas are closest to what becomes our (fantasy) model, they are awarded S/N 0001 of said guitar, complete with all the Fender documentation and appropriate bells and whistles. If for nothing else, it would also be a huge gesture by Fender as to their appreciation of our unswerving loyalty which, in turn, generates a whole lot of positive publicity for them and proves without a shadow of a doubt that they do in fact, listen to the anonymous masses who faithfully buy the majority of their products year in and year out, year after year.

That really is a phenomonal idea. You should email Brad and toss the idea up the chain. This could be a very succesful thing for Fender.

Ritchie Blackmore! Bring back the Blackmore Signature Strat in a affordable format. "The Man In Black" is a living legend; unlike the flavor of the week Bozo's who have somehow managed to get a signature guitar.

Way better Idea. Common people should be involved in the whole process. I hope this take root.
