Me!

...I wish :(

I'd like to see a Phil Lynott sig P bass, I'm pretty sure there hasn't been one of those (might be wrong though!)

I still find it funny. Someone gets famous playing, lets say an American Deluxe. Then they make an artists model with that persons sig on it. They charge more for it then the Am. Deluxe that made the person famous in the first place. Why not just buy an Am. Deluxe? Thats that dudes sound right there.

You're right though they do tweak the artist models to suit their personal tastes sometimes. (ex. the J. Mascis Jazzmaster with a tune-o-matic bridge and the Dick Dale Stratocaster)

I say David Gilmour of Pink Floyd should have a 70's inspired strat. Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead also plays heavily customized Fenders...

Signature models are just a collection of instrument features associated with a given player that a guitar company thinks will sell. They are not Lifetime Achievement Awards.

That's not why they exist and that's not how they come to be, so there's nobody who is overdue to "receive" one. IMO.

The Artist Model guitars are being over done to death. IMPO guitar companies should just concentrate on making decent guitars with various options and leave the Artist names alone.

Agreed. Except for the real greats like Hendrix, SRV, Sting. Those I can see why they'd have sig models, but some are just useless.

I really can't think of any for Fender. I guess Bob Dylan could use his own signature black telecaster, even though he didn't perform with it too often, he is popular enough for one.

I can think of a few for Gibson though. Mike Bloomfield, Duane Allman, Freddie King and on and on.

I like what Jimmie Vaughan did with his Artist Model. He gave it a Solid Maple Neck, Popular Traditional Color choices, Put his signature on the Back of the Headstock, and had it MIM. The result is a High Quality Affordable Strat with Tex Mex pickups.

And I love my Red Polka Dot Strat that probably wouldn't be in Current Production if it weren't for Buddy Guy.

Artist Models allow a Guitar Player to design a Strat, What could be wrong with that? I really like the John Mayer Strat, but not so much John Mayer (although he gets an A for effort).

Doyle Bramhall II need one (also available for the Right Hand).

John McLaughlin! A red & white single-pickup Musicmaster like he used to play with his Tony Williams/Larry Young trio in 1969/70. And like I still have.

That would be TOO cool! And it should sell for its original price...$75!

I like the Stones and their guitarist Keith Richards. I nominate him. But don't tell him about the series or he'll just think he has to sign them or something to make them a signature series guitar. He looks partied out. (He's not so bad these days)

Partied out? Hell, the mans been dead since 1976. You're right though, I've wondered a few times why there wasn't a Keith Richards Tele.

You're right. Not many metal guitarist opt for a Strat. He has played Fender forever.
