Well, I don't know what path you're going to go down, but the success of Mr Clapton is rare. Not only did he wrote one of the greatest, and most recognizable songs of all time - he actually got the woman, then proceeded to marry her WITH the blessings of the ex husband , George Harrison.

Good luck, not like you've got much to live up to ;-)

Just sing Layla to her and put her name in place of Layla-there's a chance that she may never had heard it and jump into your arms and pledge her undying love.

You're a farm boy, you must know your way around a vehicles braking system enough to figure out your solution to this dilemma.

Option B is far too boring. Abandon that idea immediately.

I say just ask her out. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I was in the same situation just 7 short years ago...............We have been married now for 5 years, have a 3 year old son and together we own and operate a private music school.

Happiness can be had.

If she's sending you signals it may mean that she's realized that the guy she's living with isn't all that great and may be ready to drop him if you reciprocate with a few signals of your own.Just start off slow first and ask her to go for a coffee or something rather than a full fledged date,if she accepts she may start sending stronger more positive signals.

Perhaps the boyfriend will learn of your shenanigans and drop-kick your conniving azz into low-earth orbit......

(you might want to keep your parachute packed)

She is the one giving me all the signals, although they could be interpreted in many ways.

She goes out of her way at work to meet up with me and talk
She offers to walk home with me
She keeps saying how sweet I am / random compliments

Hmmph.... if she was single I would be all over it. I always get stuck in the friend zone.

My plan is to slowly make her realize I am the $@!& and thus cause her to leave the schlub. The main problem is that they live together. She will never leave him....

I am willing to go the Chuck Norris route, but only if necessary. And yes Floyd, our generation does indeed suck (even if I am 11 years older than you)

It ain't easy finding a girl that isn't insane / has problems.

Nobody even talks face to face anymore! I am anti cell phone / facebook etc. Good old fashioned person to person contact for me.

Still tough.....

they all expect some knight in shining armor or some stupid s**t whos perfect and can do anything... reality seems to escape them...

Hi Nev: what's exciting about this situation is that if you indeed win the girl away from the other fella then you will always know that your girlfriend was happy to dump one guy for another. That'll keep you on your toes - for as long as it lasts.

I've always found the monk option, mentioned above, the best route. Just when you've given up on the opposite sex and resigned yourself to the solitary life - along always comes a little babe who turns your life in a new direction.

This plan can't fail. And if it does - well, you always have a nice monastery to live in.

Cheers - C

I have been using the monk plan for a long time. It doesn't work very well.

Yes - I have the strange feeling that as soon as Ms Right finally shows up we'll all be hearing a lot less from you round here, won't we?

Ah, most of us know what it is to be abruptly dropped when a nice woman comes into a fella's life...

Hi Nevin, my sympathies, I've been there, too.

I'm with guitslinger on this. If she adds more signals when you respond a little, take it from there. If she doesn't want you I find it always helps to say she doesn't deserve you. :)

If you're a Gentleman (which I think you are, posting this considerate thread is proof enough :) ), you will find a way to court and preserve your integrity. I think the word "gently does it" comes to mind. Also, going slowly, you'll find out what it is that's driving her, which is vital for any furthur procedure.

Best of luck from another 1985'er!

-Nutter

be careful what you wish for.

I believe Eric and Patti divorced and years later Eric gave her a house to live in when she was broke. Got an extra house lying around?

What if I just go for it and ask her out? Epic fail most likely, but technically nothing to lose.

Option B: Become a monk.

Nothing to lose, much to gain. Plant the seed and watch it grow. Letting your feelings be known now will only mean that they are know going forward..when she does become single. I say go for it. You'll always kick yourself if you don't.
