Im genuinely interested to see the spread of who visits the forums, so I figured this would make a great poll.

Im kind of in between a few
I've been playing consistently for 7 years, and I have been in and out of bands, but right now I would just consider myself a hobbyist looking to get back into it. Its just difficult finding like minded musicians.

I fit in two categories hobbyist/weekend warrior. My job is in the IT field and totally unrelated to the music. Participating in music making is a sort of my "soul equalizer" from the daily serving of work @$#$% and family duties.

To answer your question in regards to my plying experience, that you asked me in my thread. I have been going to the music school as a child but switched (unfortunately) from participation in music to just passive listening when I was 12. Now in my mid 30's, I have been doing it seriously for 3 years and hope to do it till the day where I have to "log out" in IT terminology.

Thanks again for your advice and hope you enjoy this forum.

I was pro (first choice) for about 32 years, but due to medical issues I only do choice gigs these days. I've been 'on the road' for more than half of my life.

Much of my time is spent recording (songs and jingles) now and collaborating with others.

I would probably be considered a Hobbyest, although I do get paid a little bit for my rock gigs and occasionally I'll get paid for a blues gig. Although I often play the blues gigs for free just because I enjoy it that much. In a year or so I'm going to start playing at a college level and go to college for music, and after that I would like to go professional maybe as a studio musician.

I really don't know which category I'd fall into.I started gigging in 1969 when I was 15 and gigged up until about '92 when I was stricken with a bad back that required surgery.I haven't gigged since but play every day an intend to get back gigging when my hand problem rectifies itself.I ticked the hobbiest box anyway as I always had a day job to fall back on.

None of your business you silly English Pig-cow!

I Fart in your general Direction!

You Mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries!

Now go away before I have to taunt you a second time!
