when the question is asked i will tell. dont ask if you dont want to know.

Somedays I don't believe.
Somedays part of me believes.
Somedays I really want to believe.

This is what I'm talking about.

I'm not ashamed that I don't believe, nor do I feel the need to keep it a secret. I don't feel the need to *explain* why I don't believe unless someone asks "Why don't you?"

The observation was that a poll was placed to see "Do you Believe ? : Yes / No / Donno", and that people who voted "Yes" felt the need to explain why without being asked, while those that voted no didn't feel the need.

Obviously nobody is keeping secrets, they voted. My interest is in why people who DO believe feel the need to explain why without being asked. It seems like unneeded public self-affirmation.

Also, I don't need to read Bible verses, I don't have an interest in them.

well you asked a question and i pointed you in the direction to recieve your answer. then, you ask the same questions again.
of course i dont see where anybody explained why they believe unless i missed something.

but according to you it should be kept personal. if that is the case it should be erased from this forum by the mods at fender. but as personal as it should be, and by your own words, you STILL want to talk about it.

Pointing me at verses doesn't explain anything. You could have given an explanation without trying to get me to read a bible.

You're just dodging the point of interest and acting like I'm starting a flame war, so I'll just stop responding to you after this post. I wasn't instigating a discussion about why people believe, I was interested in why they feel the need to talk about their personal beliefs on a private subject with people they don't know.

My question has *nothing* to do with believing or not, its about why those that do feel the need to profess their beliefs to complete strangers.

Not everyone does.

Theres a marked difference between people that have arrived at a form of belief through their own experiences and those who were indoctrinated into it through their family or whatever.

Though you see the same in all walks of life. Especialy help groups. I used a stop smoking help group for awhile. I had to quit it as I just kept hearing the same old rhetoric that I used to hear at church. All the keywords and in fashion statements of that month.

Thats whats not for me, wherever I meet it.

Religion by its very nature is an extremely personal relationship between someone and their god.... why do you want to make something so personal so public for everyone to see ?

no that was your original question.

i'll leave it alone. i posted the very spot where you can get your question answered COMPLETELY. at this point we probably should leave this topic alone dont ya think?

Yeah, I know its not everyone, but it just seems by and large more people that do believe are vocal and those that don't are less pushy about it.

There are always those that do believe who don't talk about it, and those that don't who do talk about it.

Like I said before, I'm not saying anyone is right / wrong either way, it was an observation.

Thats a big yes for me. In my younger years I was a real Hell raiser, but for about the last ten years i've been a Christion. Cant say a good one but I try. We all stumble and fall, do things we shouldent but in the end were just Human. Do wright by others, help people when you can and have Faith. In the words of John (Allwe need is love).

Just because someone believes in a god doesn't necessarily mean it has to be bible based bro.

I much prefered The Lord of the Rings.

I beleive. Some people like to talk about it because the enjoy it just like we like to talk about guitars and cars. Nothing wrong with that.
