It's cool.
Stick around and hopefully enjoy the forum. Plenty of top people here. And if you have been playing as much and for as long as you say I'm sure there are plenty of us who can benefit from your experiences as well.

So what do you play?

Peace man.

Shall we now all kneel at the gigmister's feet and kiss his pedalboard?

If arrogance corresponded to military rank, you'd be a friggin' twenty-star general!

Get help, man. If not from here, somewhere. Anywhere.

Ive been back to the roots lately. Blues. Messin w/alot of chords & voice leading. Like take a 12 bar minor blues in C. play [Cm6/Fm7/Cm7 G7#9/Cm C7#9/Fm7- AbM7 Gm7/Fm7- G7b9-/Cm7 Db9b5/Cm7- Cm6-/Ab7- AbM7 Ab7/D7#9 G7+/Cm7 F7/Ab7 G11b9] The - would stand for 2 beats. It's all voice lead w/inversions and harmonies of scales. These are ideas I got from studyn Ted Greene. Theres nobody doing this kind of thing around here. Blows em away. It's alot of work n dedication, but I love it. This wk too I got to pull out the old B Sabb. n listen to the Parnoid solo that I havnt played since prob.73. to teach a student. Then I got a Coltrane's Blue Train arrngmnt for another students HS Jazz Band. Gotta show him the chords n teach him swing time. A lot of rock players just don't get it. They wanna chunk out straight 8s. Gittn back to the blues. It's gotta be done improvisational. there's so many cats out there play off the record note for note n callin it blues, it's an art and a very very emotional one at that, not paint by number. So this is a little of what I'm into, I'm all across the board. Most of the time I listen to jazz cause I love improv so much.

Much better outlook, gigfin!

Hang in there and welcome to the forum.

Lots of us "geezers" have health issues so I for one can empathize with your situation (I had a gangrenous and necrotic gall bladder removed in June).

Rawk on!

Sorry, I'm not into talent boxes. It's years of hard work and woodshedin'. That's right I am a 20 star general on guitar cause I worked n continue to work my butt off to get there. You prbly can't even tune one w/out your Heeman pedalboard tuner. I also rip em apart redo the electronics and set em up. I eat, breath, sleep n crap guitar. Hey if your pedalbord craps out send it over n I'll tweak it so it sounds like all your favorite shreders. I like that "General Gig" the 24 fret commander. Thank for the new title! Jenrawl Gig

So that means if I keep posting I'll achive rockstar status? I'd rather skip that 1. I enjoy just being a guitar player. Any Berklee alumni out there?

Hey Gigfin! Welcome to the Forum!

I'm sorry you're upset about the way the forum works. But I'm sure a man of your format can easily get into the groove around here and find it a very attractive place to spend his precious time. It's good fun most of the time!

again, welcome! 8)

Anyone who has been playing for 45 years in the professional community with a degree from Berkley does not communicate so poorly, nor act this immature.

It's pretty obvious that gigfin hasn't read How To Win Friends And Influence People by Norman Vincent Peale. For someone to take such an adversarial, condescending attitude for his first post speaks volumes about his personality-or lack thereof.I can't see how someone with such an inflated self important opinion of themselves could possibly last in a gigging band for any length of time unless the other members are a bunch of spineless cretins.I think that this guy is yanking our chain with regard to his credentials as a true Berklee grad would never get on with the obnoxious verbal flatulence that this guy has.
