I know it doesn't have anything to do with music... Although it kind of does since that's what I want to do in college, but I figure I can get away with a non-music related thread every once in a while. lol

This question is aimed more at the younger crowd, or knowledgeable parents. What are some good (and free) websites and resources for SAT prep? I'm taking my SAT test at the end of this school year and it's make or break as far as college goes. My math skills have been horrible from day one so I really need to bring my grades up, and being prepared for the other subjects wouldn't hurt either. Any links and/or advice would be much appreciated. :D

Go to any local junior/community college and talk to the admissions counselor or academic counselor. They're generally very helpful, and they would know the best resources. Larger universities usually won't help you unless your parents have a "way in".

Also, try their librarian (at the college) or your local public librarian.

Don't worry--You're gonna do great!

google "SAT books", amazon has one called the official SAT study guide, don't even have to leave the house to buy it

good grades mostly come down to TIME

just like learning to play guitar, put in the TIME, the more time you put in the better the grades

the study guide may tell you how much time to set aside, if you want good grade double that and make sure you spread it over a reasonalbe period of time, don't try to do it all in the week before the exam

there are very few people who don't need to put in the time and get good grades, similarly there are very few people who put in the time and don't get good grades. there are plently of people who don't put in the time and don't get good grades

I know you can do it, best investment you'll ever make.

Are you taking the ACT too? After the scoring controversy and the racism allegations, some schools won't look at SAT

No, I'm probably just going to take the SAT unless after I talk with a college councilor they advise otherwise.

Well, good news. I'm still taking the SAT, but it's not as big of a deal as I thought because I'm not transferring to a major university right out of high school. I'm spending a couple of years in community college to get my basics out of the way and then I'm going to transfer out. Because of that the universities will look at me as a transfer student and they probably won't even look at my SAT. I still need to take it because I want to apply for as many scholarships as I possibly can.

The Stanley Kaplan Organization has had the longest track record in aptitude test prep for all fields. See if there is one near you.
