So I haven't been checking in for a couple of weeks because my pc has been whack, but today I made my first major purchase on an amp so I thought I should share... A 1968 Ampeg Rocket 2!

It sounds like LSD for the ears, and the built in tremelo, spring reverb and echo sound absolutely amazing, not mention it's all 100% analog. :D

Hopefully soon 8) I'll need to mic it somehow everthing on it is hard wired so I can't run anything out of the amp itself

i'll try getting some pics soon too and one of my strat. I haven't done any of that since I been on here.

Congrats Jimbo you got yourself one gem of an amp,it's only now people are beginning to realize just how good those old Ampegs were.Is it an original or a reissue?Either way the Rocketverb is a funky amp and especially so if it's an original.

I think it's an original, but the full name of it is Rocket II/ GS-12R

you think since it has a "R" it means reissue? It's 22watt,single jensen loudspeaker, two 7591's, two 12ax7's and a 6u10.

It's all stock, so I just hope I can find all of the tubes and fuses if anything blows. I know that I will be out of luck if any of the circuitry gets screwed, so she's getting nothing but my tender love and care.

Congrats, gotta love old Ampegs ^^ Mine's the same year as yours, only it's a B12XT. I will recommend fliptops.net, they will have all of your Ampeg parts and odd tubes if and when you need them. They also sell custom covers, which I'm thinking about getting.
