He's another of the Disney-fied pop stars (although I don't know if he's associated with Disney or not; who cares anyway?) that appeal to 'tween girls. He's got an emo haircut like a Japanese anime character and I'm not sure if his voice has changed. He got a record deal by posting Youtube videos of himself playing guitar and singing, but I think it's not just his (meh) singing that sparks the hate---he's like the annoying little know-it-all jackass that lives next door and thinks he is "entitled".

I thank the Lord everyday that my daughter, 8, has so far not really fallen for or gotten into any of the Jonas Brothers or Hannah Montana stuff. Maybe it's because I brainwashed her by letting her into my CD collection--Fabulous Thunderbirds, ZZ Top, Joe Ely, Ray Wylie Hubbard, the Faces, Tab Benoit and so on. She's come to my band's shows (at least every time we played an all-ages venue). I let her choose her own music as long as the lyrics are not nasty (I don't want to explain certain things to an eight-year-old ).
