Ron often salvages and recycles usable timber from old structures in the Jacksonville area that are scheduled for demolition -- primarily barns, farm houses, smoke houses, and the like. Some date back to the early 20th century.

Hi mclmk8d: I have never had the pleasure of meeting one of Ron Kirn's guitars in person. But I have studied his website in great detail - and recommend anyone interested in how guitars are built to do the same.

If the product is half as good as his work looks from his photos then it is going to be a fabulous instrument! I love the reclaimed wood thing, by the way. That is very cool.

More pix when it arrives, please! :D (I probably didn't need to ask, did I?)

Cheers - C

That piece of wood in the back at an angle is 250 year-old American Chestnut; I shipped the amp today; with my usual overpacking, it weighed 49 lbs. At least I know it'll arrive safely.
I'll post more photos and feedback when I get it. Both the amp and the guitar are due to arrive at their respective new homes on Thursday.

Well, the Ron Kirn Barnbuster arrived today, and this thing sounds incredible. Very crisp, bell-like tones, amazing sustain, nice distortion and breakup when pushed volume-wise. Heavy as a barn-door (what did you expect me to say?). I'm very happy with it. Need to go to the gym so I can pick it up
