Well, I finally traded my Reinhardt Fast Albert head that was lonely and unused. This is what is coming; a Ron Kirn Barnbuster, made of 100 year-old pine with a chestnut stripe in the back, hand-wound pickups and body, etc. More can be seen at http://ronkirn.com/tele.htm
I am psyched!

Is there any significance to the placement of the chestnut?

Ron Kirn built my Mary Kaye hardtail Strat.

Same deal......50+ year-old swamp ash with all-nitro finish.

It's my "marooned-on-a-tropical-island scenario" guitar.

Your Tele looks every bit as nice to me.

Rawk on!

Arjay

None that I know of, but then again, I'm the 2nd owner, so I don't know for sure; may be a purely visual thing.

That is one sweet looking guitar! :)

Didn't Brian May use a 100 year old fireplace mantel to make his guitar? Sounds like a good idea.

Bill, I don't know the weight yet, I should be getting it sometime next week; I'll put it on the scale.

Man, that is a beautiful piece of wood right there!! :D

Just one thing, that piece of walnut is throwing my right off, and the knots in the wood could perhaps suggest the wood has been recycled? not to throw it in a bad light but if it was, I love the idea.

I'd like a tele like that made of old wood that has been recycled- it would be that a guitar takes on a new meaning and has a story to tell. Like made from an old mahogany table or something...
