We're 10 days away from the 40 year anniversary of the death of the Master of the Strat. September 18, tolls for James Marshall Hendrix. 27 Years old was not a fitting age to die for the Master. I'm fortunate I was able to see him play a very short time before the end.

Although John Lennon and George Harrison put me on the road and sealed my fate of becoming a musician it was I first heard the Are You Experienced album that I really became dedicated to lead guitar and settled down to practice up to 10 hrs or even more a day.Jimi's music just stirred something deep inside me and just made a connection to my soul. The first time I heard the intro of Foxey Lady start off at a whisper and build up to an orgasmic crescendo I knew I had to follow that path. I'd listen intently to every nuance of his playing but rarely sat down and played along,I listened to every song until I knew how to play it without playing along,I memorized and disected every part of every song.Sadly I couldn't duplicate many of his riffs and ended up having to put my own spin on them but ended up usually getting the gist of them.We will never see another musician who will transcend guitar playing like Jimi did. To this very day fretboard giants like Clapton,Townshend,Beck,Iommo etc. acknowledge Jimi as being the best that ever picked up a guitar. Anyone who plays guitar should speak his name with reverence because it was Jimi that raised the bar to the level that it's at today, but nobody will ever surpass the mark that James Marshall Hendrix put on it.Sing on Brother.

27 Wasn't a good age for Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison.

There's a whole "27 Club". Lots of artists and musicians.
