Thanks Armadillo...I didn't know that since I have not bought a Topp cd in a long time.
Wow,what a thing to do to those early albums, make them sound more like Afterburner....it's the gritty vocals,Texas honk and sparse arrangements on most of the music that sounds so good....they were always a very live sounding, studio recorded band...imho.
Surely doesn't need to be overproduced.

Met Billy at a car show once.
Down to earth guy.
Will stand and talk cars with you as long as you want.
Of course, we had something in common. Both of us owned 62 Impalas at the time. I later sold mine.
Heard a show host do an interview wirh him.
He said "We're the same three guys playing the same three chords after all these years"!

A couple of years ago my daughters gave me a stereo that converts vinyl and tapes to CDs I guess my best bet is convert my ZZ top albums to CD rather than buy the remastered"enhanced"albums. Thanks for passing on that info.

That sounds great--I've wanted to get one of those converters for a while, I've got a ton of vinyl that's never been issued onto CD.

For properly mastered (sounds like vinyl) CDzz by ZZ Top, there are these discs:

Tres Hombres--re-remastered in 2006 with bonus tracks
Fandango!--re-remastered in 2006 with bonus tracks
Chrome, Smoke & BBQ--box set
Rancho Texicano--best of double disc
Best of ZZ Top--old 1977 best of album
Eliminator Collector's Edition--features extra tracks and original mixes of vinyl LP
and then, everything after Eliminator.

Have you figured out that I like ZZ Top? 8) 8) 8)

Hi guys I dug up the website for the stereo,it's made by Innovative Technology and their website is : www.ithomeproducts.com
The same rig that I have is shown on their home page,it's styled like an old radio from the 30s or 40s.The sound of the stereo itself is not bad but the reproduction of the sound of vinyl is quite good when played on a real good quality system.I believe that my daughters bought mine at Walmart of all places but I think that you can get them through Pronto. Memorex makes one quite similar and Sears Canada advertises one like it from time to time but it's a lot more expensive and almost identical. Their toll free No.-in the US only-is 1-877-483-2497 and for everyone else it's 516-883-8220 and their address is Innovative Technology Electronics Corp.
4 Anchor Way,Port Washington,NY 11050
I just looked up another source: www.turntable.pronto.com I hope the info helps as it's a great thing to have around if you want to cut down on the wear and tear on your precious old vinyl.
