Why do Fender American Standard series guitars come with cases that stack on top of each other, but yet when I go to

for one thing the cases arn't designed for the weight of the extra guitars.

i think thats obvious, i think short journeys are ok, but in long time storage they aren't.

Those new plastic cases may be intended to stand up right pushed together in transit, not actually laid down and stacked. That would hold them together, interlocked standing up not slipping around. Bungie cords around all the cases standing up right holding them together as one bunch.
