ok guys, not so long ago you were a big help with my clapton hangup.
remember i use to think he was way overrated?
now i listen to him 2 or 3 times a week to catch up for decades of
clapton abuse.
now im on a allman brothers quest. ive heard some songs and liked them , but never was a fan. so now im wanting to give these boys a try.
im looking for more of a guitar based album if they have it.
their slide is crazy cool.
can someone direct me to a disc or two of theirs that i should buy?
again i never really was a "fan" not that i didnt like them, i just didnt have time for them if that makes any sense to you. just to many other bands
i was into ya know.
ok guys help me out please.

Eat a Peach came out just about a year after the Fillmore album, it's also the last one that Duane played on. I think you will like the tune "Little Martha" I think (if memory serves) one whole side of my record is "Mountain Jam"
Man, that digs up some memories 8)

Eat a Peach is by far and away my favorite ABB album.

About half of the content is from the Filmore sessions. Some of the other material was recorded with Duane, and I believe some finished after he passed.

Between this and the Filmore disc mentioned above it is a great jumping on point.

Their self-titled debut album and "Idlewild South" are also excellent examples of Duane's early work.

And while you're out shopping for those, also check out Humble Pie's "Rockin' The Fillmore"......Steve Marriot and the gang at their absolute best.

Filmore East is one of the greatest albums of all time! When Bill Graham decided to close the Filmore, he asked his staff who they would want to play the last show. The unanimous decision was the Allman Bros. They played until the sun came up the next day. Bill Graham said that the Bros. were the finest musicians he'd ever seen during his amazing career. That's some pretty high praise from someone as notable as Mr. Graham. Get it, you'll love it. :D

Man in the 1970s we played a lot of Allman Brothers. Whipping post was fun to play lead from and then the classics tunes, as mentioned: Melissa, Mountain Jam, Stormy Monday, and Midnight Rider. Yes two best albums, Eat a Peach and Filmore East. No mean to be disrespectful, as I loved Duane Allman's playing, but when I go back and listen to it today, it tends to be a bit sloppy at times. He was one of those players who did so by the seat of his pants and I do not think any two solos were the same, except where they did the planned guitar riffs together or signaled the rest of the band that the improvising time was over. JMHO.
