Thank you,

It's so interesting, being around for a while and gaining the perspective to not only think about stuff like that, but to ponder the possibilities and implications.

Would Buddy have matured as elegantly as contemporary guitarists like Hank Marvin, Jerry McGee, Nokie Edwards and Duane Eddy?

Buddy was another great who was taken from us before he reached his true potential. He is another guitar player that had a huge influence on others and was a pioneer of the rock genre.Buddy was such an inspiration to 4 young Liverpool lads that they named their group The Beatles to honour Buddy's band The Crickets. The Beatles did a lot of Holly covers in their Hamburg and Cavern days and did a great cover of Buddy's Words Of Love on their Beatles For Sale album.Buddy had such a melodious voice and such a fresh and unique playing style,he was destined for stardom. It seems like an disproportionate number of musicians die before their time and it's not always from their own wrong doing etc. but from unfortunate accidents and maladies.Happy Birthday Buddy, thanks for giving us rock and roll.

Febuary 3rd in 1959 Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P "The Big Bopper" Richardson died in a plane crash near Clear Lake Iowa

Heres an erie tidbit...

Richardson had developed a case of the flu during the tour and asked one of Holly's bandmates, Waylon Jennings, for his seat on the plane; Jennings agreed to give up the seat. When Holly learned that Jennings wasn't going to fly, he said, "Well, I hope your ol' bus freezes up." Jennings responded, "Well, I hope your ol' plane crashes." This exchange of words, though made in jest at the time, haunted Jennings for the rest of his life.

Happy Birthday Buddy...

Yak at me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it Buddy Holly the first rocker to use orchestra music on a track?

Buddy and his family have done lots of good for the city of Lubbock. Too bad Lubbock has not really returned the favor.

Maria Elena forced the city to remove Buddy's statue from the West Texas Walk of Fame. It's in storage now and hopefully will be put back up at the Buddy Holly museum. Maria may try to axe that too.

Who is this Maria Elena clown and what's her problem?I've never heard of the biotch,it's scary that someone that nuts could have so much power that she could have the statue of one of the world's biggest musical icons removed. She should be shot with a ball of her own excrement.

She's Buddy's widow.

Oh,well that shed's a new light on it but I can't understand why she would object to a statue honoring his contribution to music that changed the face of rock and roll.Just about every town on earth has statues honouring their famous sons and daughters.I'm sorry now that I called her a biotch as I figured she was a politician or some powerful business mogul.

I don't understand either.

IMO this is a classic case where the principle of "eminent domain" should take precedence over a single citizen's wishes.

I'll say she's a bee-itch. And be perfectly comfortable doing so.

Maria is still pissed that Buddy had hired a divorce attorney before he left on the last tour.
