Okay, so i'm looking to buy a TV. I have two picked out, both are around the same price and both are Vizios.

the first one is a 32", has 50000:1 contrast ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate

the second one is 37", has a 100000:1 contrast ratio, but only a 60Hz refresh rate.

both are LCD and 1080p HD.

i'll be using my TV mainly for gaming, but maybe for watching DVDs, no blue ray, and possibly for watching TV.

so is it worth sacrificing refresh rate for size and a high contrast ratio, or vice versa?

thanks for putting up with my non-guitar related question, but i googled the crap out of this and couldn't find a good answer.

can you look at them side by side in the store? the higher contrast ratio should give you a cleare picture, but the faster refresh rate is better for fast action movies, sports on tv, and video games.

if you can see them with the same programming, it might be easier to make your decisions, but i don't know enough about the exact models you are looking at to tell you one is definitely better.

good luck with your choice.

well i wasn't looking in the store, i'm probably going to get the TV refurbished from Amazon or Buy.com.

but if it helps, here are the links for both of them:

the 32": http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002QP ... -1&seller=

and the 37": http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TY ... -1&seller=

if you want to do some serious research have a look at avsforum.com, there are lots of people there who know more about tv's than some people around here know about guitars.

The technology changes fast with design and reliability improvements being added constantly. So another factor for me would be when these models came out. If one model came out ... say ... around two years ago and the other came out two months ago, I would definitely go for the newer model (assuming all other things being equal).

Based on only the information provided, I would go with the higher refresh frequency (120).
