Hey everyone,

there's a Les Paul up for grabs at a Pawn Shop by me. I called and he said his price'll only be up for another 3 hours before it shoots back up when his Labour Day sale ends.

Have a look:

My concern is regarding the plate on the headstock. Is that thing really original or has it been swapped out? The fellow who helped me on the phone tried to tell me that it was infact the model of the guitar.

I haven't much time to get down to the shop to grab it. I offered $1300+ the tax for it and they said they'd take it.

What are your thoughts regarding that blasted plate???

It all looks right to me, you can even see the glued on wings through the paint on the back of the headstock.
Just get a new truss cover for it

I've done the same thing to some of my LP's. That's the last owners name or his girlfriend/wife's name, or just what he named the guitar. You can have that done at a lot of ingraving shops. Buy a blank truss rod cover and tell them what you want.

I think that it's legit,if not it's an incredibly good fake. The best way to tell is to look inside the control cavity, that's where fakes always give themselves away, that and the pups. The finish and bookmatching are too good for it to be a fake.Great price go for it.

Well, you're all going to laugh at me. I got lost driving to the pawn shop and the store closed before I could reach it. Hope I can make it in when it reopens...
