Last week I took my old '84 JCM 800 4210 out to a jam and where its been lying up for so long the pots had more snap crackle and pop than a truckload of Rice Crispies. The old '83 2204 model was even worse. On Friday I picked up some Motomaster electrical contact cleaner at Canadian Tire and used it today on both amps,it's the best contact cleaner I've ever used,it took out every bit of noise and now they're whisper quiet even with the amps turned way up.I tried at the Source(Canada's Radio Shack ) and they didn't even have any contact cleaner, you'd figure that a place like that would have it for sure.So anyone North of the border who has dirty pots CTC has the right stuff.

In the same boat here....old and dirty pots. At this point, can they be cleaned or would it be best to replace them... $$$

Any suggestions for a contact cleaner this side of the border... what's best and where might we find it...

BTW... we're new here....

Thanks ...

My guitars and amps have to "pay their way" -- I can't afford problems on-stage. Thus I have them all on a 6-month cycle of "PMCS" (preventative maintenance, checks and servicing, like the system the military uses). Pots, jacks, plugs, and switches are routinely cleaned and inspected every 180 days. I use "De-Oxit" exclusively.
