I was at a gymnastics place when I was about 10. My friends and I were using the pads to make a fort. Being the geniuses we were, the only way to get in was to go under a trampoline. As I was trying to get out, a rather large girl jumped on it. Long story short, I split my entire forehead open, had to get it glued shut, and -get this- the glue ran down and I glued my finger to my head by accident! My index finger was stuck for 3 days until I could get the glue removed. Other than that never even broken a bone. Bruised a few at the lake, though.

The WORST injury? I popped a disc when I helped the grips carry one of these:

[img][/img]

They are about 760 pounds and there were 4 of us, so I thought it would be ok...NOT!!!

I spent a couple of weeks in the hospital on Demerol, morphine and who knows what else. The amazing thing was, even on those drugs, the pain was so bad at times I thought I was going to die from it. The part that made it the WORST injury is, my neurosurgeon told me I MIGHT NOT WALK AGAIN. Scared me silly. Many years later I am 100% fine.

I hate pain!

Gridlok

But the guards felt bad for me and I got a tshirt and a stage guitar strap from a tech while waiting for the ambulance

Broken toe on right foot, broken right femur, dislocated right hip, 3 broken ribs on the right. dislocated right shoulder, more cuts and bruises than you can imagine, bits of glass emebedded so deep doctors were still finding them and cutting them out of me 2 months later.

"Critical" condition in ICU for 4 days.
"Serious" condition for another 7.
Released after 15 total.
8 months of physio.

Auto accident. March 1993.

Brother in law got it much worse. Way more broken bones plus a serious brain trauma. He was in passenger seat and took the full brunt of the 100 KPH (60 MPH) T-bone impact.

Through snowboarding I have....

Broken my arms 5 times,
Broken my thumbs 3 times,
Broken both legs by falling onto a metal rail shins first which split my shins open to the bone and broke them,
had multiple concussions to the point where the doctor has told me if I get another I can't play sports for 6 months,
torn cartilage in both my knees,
oh and broke my heel.

My bones are a wreck

Any metal plates Joe?

You know I've been very lucky in that I haven't needed any, the only thing that still bugs me is the knee issues but the doctor says the chance of surgery improving it isn't worth going through the surgery.

So..... are you any good at snowboarding?

Haha, the list would suggest not but I actually teach in Canada in the winters. I guess when your throwing yourself of 70ft jumps your gonna be in trouble when you mess up.

My list sounds bad but it's nothing compared to what I've see happen to other people!

My friend shattered 3 vertabrae and broke every rib on his right side hitting a tree.

Also once we were riding through the trees and came across a man who had hit a tree backwards and gotten a broken branch stump impaled in him, he was unconscious slumped on the branch. We got the patrollers to him and he was alive then, but tons of blood and very very weak pulse and breathing. They got rid of us and never did tell us what happened to him. That was a bad experience.

Potato gun ?

John.E

Oh yeah, lots of fun. Made of PVC tubing and a BBQ grill igniter. Anyway I was doing a little drinking a shooting the potato gun. So we took a break and the gun was sitting for a while. I wanted to see if the sparker was still working so I look down the barrel and hit the igniter. Some gasses must have still been in the chamber because an explosion of blue flame came out of the barrel and damn near roasted my right eyeball. If there had been any shrapnel at all in the gun I may have lost my eye, but I only ended up losing my eyebrow and lashes which grew back. Mind you this is just what a bit of aerosol hairspray can do.

2 different accidents- 2 concussions. don't knowhow to describe them. its kinda like you turn yor head to the side, but it takes a while for your eyes to catch up.

it also affected my memory, and in one of the accidents my arm was so sore, it was hard for me to play for more than a few minutes at a time.

all is better now....

Both sides of my throat sliced open (within a 1/4 of my jugular vein). Took 70 stitches on that one. Was due to a dog bite.
