Got thrown off my horse about 2 years ago. It happened so fast I never had a chance to get my arm down to soften the landing...hit square on my side. I ended up with a cracked pelvis and several fractured ribs. The next morning was when it really hit me and every movement was agony for weeks. I still have a small sack of fluid from the swelling on my hip...I guess it's there forever.
Damn, that really hurt.

I rode a motorcycle into the back of a minivan. Well I hit the minivan anyway. Cold pavement and cold tires are dangerous on 2 wheels. I did about $1800 damage to the van with my body.

Ended up with nothing but badly bruised ribs and a really sore sprained left knee. I did walk like Igor for about a year after that but now I'm good as new (kinda).

Sent my girlfriend (now wife) a funny pic from the emergency room.

Anyway this injury was definitely worse than when I shot myself in the right eye with an unloaded potato gun ...

My worst injury happened one 24th of May weekend in 1974.I had drank a 26er of Canadian Club and smoked a pile of illegal herbs when one of the guys tried to get the campfire going again with white gas. There were some embers left burning and the gas ignited and spread back to the can,he panicked and tossed the can in my direction and I was hit in the face with burning gas.I dived for the ground breaking off 2 front teeth and ended up facedown in wet moss.I got a towel and soaked it with very salt water and had to wait hours to get to hospital as there wasn't anyone sober enough to drive. When I got to hospital-still feeling no pain-they were amazed that it didn't hurt and that the burn was so clean.Anyway it all healed and left no sign at all of the burn. The Drs. attributed the healing to the immediate application of the saline soaks and said that if I hadn't done that I could have been scarred for life.I applied saline soaks to the burnt area until it had healed completely.

Shrapnel......the gift that keeps on giving.

I still have a piece of Russian-made steel lodged next to my renal artery -- probably made by one of my own relatives, ha ha!.

The TSA folks salivate like Pavlov's dog whenever I step through an airport metal detector......
