last sunday i won an auction on ebay for an electro harmonix/sovtek small stone phase shifter. i payed $70 + $10 shipping. it arrived to me today in a rather crumpled cardboard box, containing the wooden box containing the pedal and quite a bit of bubble wrap. i open the wooden box. i heard something shaking and when i look at the back of my pedal i see that the input and output jacks are in the pedal as the screws had broken. i went and plugged it in regardless. when i went to turn it on the switch didnt make that loud pop against the pedal most switches of that type do and my guitar went from a nice clean sound to nothing but fuzz, with no actual tones coming out when i played something. after trying several more times, getting angrier by the second. when i realized it wasnt going to work, my wall claimed its second cell phone in 5 months.

U.S. Postal Service sucks $@!

Cardboard box, wooden box, bubblewrap, and you still blame the postman???

I just sent a Marshall logo to Ireland because of a ebay sale. A 9.5" logo (measures 10" across the bottom of the letters as they all do), sent inside a cylindrical tube, packed out with foam.

The guy complained about it being 10" wide and that it was broken. When it finaly came back the whole of the M was broken off rather too cleanly to be a accident.

Guy bought something he didn't want and blamed the postal service to get a refund. I think you bought something that was broke before it went back in the box. EH stuff is mostly bombproof.

Just wait til the govt is providing your healthcare!

I've had good and back luck with USPS though. I do know that the process of filing and recovering your funds from a damage claim is damn near impossible. Sorry to hear about your pedal man. Stinks to be looking forward to something so much then get it and it's not what you expected.

That doesn't sound like USPS, that sounds like whomever you bought the pedal off of sold you a bad pedal. Either way that sucks, hope it gets resolved one way or another.

From the way you described the damage, I'd be a little more suspcious of the eBay seller than I would the postal service. Check to see what kind of rating the seller has gotten from other buyers on ebay. If they've reported any other problems of this type (and even if they haven't), you should try contacting him for a refund. If that doesn't work, you can try filing a complaint with eBay.

Why I won't buy from strangers off of Ebay.

You should definitely give it a try. Explain the problem to him in as much detail as possible and politely ask for a refund. And send him some pictures of the damage if you happen to have his email address. 80 bucks is too much money to toss down the drain. Good luck!
