I don't really care about fretboard wood. You can make a guitar with a rosewood board sound brighter by adjusting the EQ on your amp, and one with a maple board sound warmer. So it really doesn't matter to me.

I prefer Maple. I have Rosewoods too but something about Maple just feels nice and is pleasant to my eye.

Might just be me, but it depends on the paintjob. Sometimes on the guitar. certain combinations of shape and size just look better with a certain board.

good question rdguitar589. my precision bass guitars have both and use the same strings, the maple does sound a tad brighter. I rehearse with them equally but use the rosewood live, lower bottom end.

Not sure I notice much difference in tone, but I generally prefer the feel of maple fretboards

Generally I prefer maple. I prefer the look of it and find it better to play on. Tonewise, I really don't notice much difference unless its unplugged from the amp, and honestly I don't play it without an amp very often.

Been many a post on this topic... My opinion is that you can't hear a difference (I can't) and my favorite is Maple YMMV

I prefer the look of maple on some guitars but I like the feel of rosewood more, ebony is a happy medium having some texture but it's also very smooth compared to rosewood.I don't for one minute buy into this "maple is brighter "fallacy, over the years I've played a countless number of guitars and have played some very dark and mellow sounding maple necked guitars and some very bright rosewood neck guitars. The overall tone of a guitar is mainly affected by the wood of the body and the electronics -especially the pickups moreso than by a 1/8"- 1/4"thick piece of wood.
