Great, and I'm sitting at the Fort Walton Beach airport, getting ready to board a small plane.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

i wasnt a fan back then, i was a eddie VH nut, still am kinda lol.
i wouldnt say that stevie changed the world of music, but brought blues and blues guitar back to life. i would say he gave us a new tone to chase after, some killer songs, and some great reads and videos. i can say that he does play a big role in my personal tastes in music and playing.
thank you stevie for all you gave us.

So much hype has surrounded Stevie in the past 20 years (as it often does when someone dies young), that it is easy to forget that he never set out to be the best, or the most influential, blues guitarist ever. So far as I can see, he only wanted to play the music he loved, draw attention to the players who influenced him, and basically be good to others. I think it is his passion for the music, and the way that passion can be heard in his playing, that makes him so endearing and enduring.
I was fortunate enough to have seen Stevie on the Texas Flood tour, and I still have great feelings about that long-ago concert. After that I kind of kept liking him, but fell into listening to other types of music more than I did blues. When he died, I was devastated.
Recently, I sort of rediscovered Stevie (not that I ever really forgot about him), and I listen to him almost if not every week. Not only does he inspire me to do better as a player, and as a person, but his music just makes me feel good.
Thank you, Stevie.

Well said! I rediscover Stevie everyday... I put a different CD in and fall in love with his music and playing all over again, like it was the first time. That passion and soul he possessed cannot be found anywhere today.

I would've loved to have been at El Mocambo and watch him play Lenny, so much passion, emotions, soul, all spoken through these six strings...

20 years..wow! I remember having a real empty feeling after hearing the news. Rest easy man!

+1
had a feeling of loss too, heard it on the news right after it happened early evening after his set. I wanted to go to Alpine to see the show but then thought "I'll see him when he comes back to town". R.I.P. Stevie Ray Vaughan.

R.I.P. SRV. You just did what you loved and were lucky enough to do it as a living, sharing it with us. Thank you.
