This is amazing. I am so glad I started this thread, the response is unreal. To find soneone else on here who has had a stroke is unbelievable. You say your 14, I'm 38 and I was 25 when I had the stroke. I know EXACTLY what you mean. Whenever I learn a new song/chord/solo, I get such a buzz that is undescribable.
I play righthanded which means my affected hand has to do the fret work which is why I keep things simple and it's mostly Ramones, Nirvana,The Clash,The Strokes,Stereophonics, Sex pistols,AC/DC, New York dolls and The Faces. Hope we can pass on some tips to each other. All I know is my guitars have kept me sane over the last 13 years and I want to pass on ny experiences and things I have learned to others in similar situations so they know they are not alone.
Thank you

Paul

i tryed to play left handed once at school, couldn't even get a power chord so i admire your determination to play with your affected hand doing the hard stuff. like you, i keep it simple, ramones, nirvana, the clash, pretty much all the bands you have listed there, but i play more of my songs than others, which again are pretty simple. when my affected hand doen't do what it supposed to do (alot of the time), its so frusterating but when it nearly does, im so happy that i just wanna keep playin' forever, and you get the idea. music is a great outlet for me, and im sure for you too
again, i cant believe ive found another dude who plays guitar and has had a stroke. i hope we share tips to, and our experiences and that.

Hello all and cheers to all who responded to this thread. Hey Riley I was wondering have you tried playing a short scale Fender? Sonething like a Jaguar or Mustang.Don't know what you play at the moment nut I recently played a Squier Duosonic and it was so much easier to play. I see Guitslinger, you already have a Jag aand a Mustang, do you dind them easier to play than a strat or tele? Just trying to pass on my experience. Looking forward to Blink 182 at Reading/Leeds tonight.

Last Friday night I got the chance to see Rickey Godfrey here in town. He is a blind blues guitarist and he brought the house down!

I have one eye, have had forever. Gueses are that my left eye(scar in center of Retnae) was injured as early as three years of age.
I never knew I had an impairment until the Lion's club brought an eye testing machine to grade school.
I adjusted to the impairment as I grew so no big deal. Then, I started developing catatract in my "Good" eye. This, too, I did not know so adjusted to it gradually.
Then the trip to the optometrist and discovery. Later, Surgery corrected and I have one great eye.
I had a close friend thet had developed hemoraging in his eyes as a result of diabetes.
He lost total vision in both eyes, but did amazing things.
Attitudes count for everything in our lives. Bad, indifferent, or positive.
