Man I wish I could get away on a vacation but with having to buy a new truck to replace my Dodge Ram that crapped out at 42,000 miles and the tough times in general. Ohh Yea I bought a Chevy Silverado this time no more Dodge trucks for me.

Maybe I should run for president he seems to all ways be on vacation. I hear he is in Martha's Vineyard now. I guess that could be a good thing though when he's off golfing and vacationing you hope he is doing less damage to the country but I figure he has fellow pin heads that do that for him.

Just ranting I don't see the economy getting any better and the debt is just going up at such a rate. Then take these things they passed last year who is going to pay for them when jobs are so scarce. People are kidding them selfs if they think the wealthy are going to foot that bill.

Like Social Security if they ever wanted to really fix it all they would have to do is remove the cap on wages. You make over 90,000 you don't pay S.S. on any of that money remove that cap and make it so social security is paid on all income not just the money under the 90, cap. Thats just all the middle class people paying that.

If you want a cheap vacation take the family camping. Camp sites are around $10 a night and usually have a store somehwere close in case you need anything. Most National Parks have pretty good shower/bath room facilities too. You can get a tent big enough to sleep a small army for $150. You can get a small cooking stove and a bottle of propane very cheap. I do recommend splurging for a good air mattress and an outlet that plugs into your car's cigarette lighters.

Nothing beats sitting around a camp fire playing guitar.

I like that kind of stuff, of course I do a lot of hunting. I need something different. I am in a rut.

Ummm, no. Your solution is fine if all you're affecting is high-salary Wall Street types. But taxing your way out of a future SS shortfall is not the solution due to catastrophic effects on the small-business community. In the short term, your solution will cost jobs as payroll and capital dollars are funnelled to the governement. In the long term, it will (further) de-motivate small business expansion and growth.

Very few small businesses have employees making over the 90,000 dollar cap. Currently the 6% employee + 6% employer contributions could be reduced if the cap were lifted and taking burden off the small business. Over 60% of the staff at my last job made well over the 90,000 cap and I am talking about just our location of 5700 employees that worked there. Very few small business do that.
And I am a tax cut person and reduced government. The one that I have problems with is that S.S. Cap on income. My guess is most reading this will never have to worry about hitting the cap.

Reading the market dispatch and they are saying we are in a contained depression with jobless rates staying as now for up to ten years. Very disturbing stuff being talked by economist yet our elected official seem quiet on it. All they have done is throw money after bad ideas when less is coming in to the public.
Mortgage loans are still low but the Credit Card Act that was past limiting card companies on things they can charge for has caused them to start raising rates to make up the difference thus causing people that pay there bill to have to pay more. Instead of targeting defaulters with various charges it is a cost across us all. Just as those apposed said it would do.

Dude - I wish I could afford a new Chevy truck - mine has 205,000+ miles on it.

But you know what - I don't have a payment on it, so I'm taking a nice vacation in a few weeks...

You can't have everything Brother...

Just sayin'...

How did a 40k truck break? Did it blow a gasket and run out of oil? I guess you were out of warrantee but even yet the engine could have been rebuilt. It was a brand new truck. Wasn't it?

Either way I'm glad you solved the problem just please be careful with this one. Keep the oil clean and maintain it as much as possible.

I have a piece of junk Ranger and it has lasted me 20 years.

Bought it new 2002 Dodge Ram It is a known problem with the Dodge 4.7 V8's it was found that the cylinder walls were cut to thin causing the engine to over heat internally. It in turn causes sludge in the motor even when changing oil at 3000 mile intervals. Eventually the heat causes either the cylinder heads, the wall or gasket to crack. On many of the 4.7s all you have to do is look in the oil filler tube and you will see what looks like yogurt slim in the filler and the insert that is inside it. This is because that is the coolest section in which there is oil so moisture condensates there. It has nothing to do with the PCV either, and when you start having to add anti freeze and find that it is slowing mixing with the oil you know it's done. All over the internet it is a known defect but most seem to last to 70,000 miles before junk. No recall because it does not create a unsafe driving condition like a sudden failure.

Here I was making the last payment on my one car so that all three were going to be paid for and I start another. It would have been the first time in 32+ years with out a car payment or two a month. I need to get away somewhere!!!!

Here is and article about it.
