I was thinking about this the other day. Do you like your guitar to be beat up or like new. I prefer the like new look. What about you guys.

Oh yeah! No onions for me tho, just some peppercorn :D gotta kick it up a notch or two.

Ok sorry, back to the topic at hand. I prefer a non-relic'ed look myself... unless it's real.

Ditto.

I've bought new & used--and my Les Paul was definitely used.

But I like it--adds character--but I'll take them either way--if it's real.
Not too much into the relic stuff.

I like my guitar natural, meaning if I scratch it...it's scrathed! Not on purpose of course. But those "battle scars" really add something to its character, it looks...meaner! :D

If it's genuinely beat up from playing then I dont mind that. But I always try and keep my guitafs looking as new as possible. I don't go for the NEW RELIC look at all.

My guitars are kind like my cars. The first scratch sucks the worse but then you relax and go with it.

Guitars with a glossy finish: clean and shiny and satin finish: they start to look a bit worn very soon, so no way to keep 'em looking like new.

I like the relic'd look if it is an actual relic--but it doesn't really matter to me, either way. I do prefer it to feel broken in, however.

I love my guitar like I love my wife.

Edit: That's not to say I always treat her right, or understand her completely, or always make the most of her, or always give her what she deserves. But for better or worse, I love her. Oh, and we both had our say in this relationship. Sometimes I think she picked me. Er, the guitar. Huh?

Fantastic thread!

I like it to sound good! Battle scars dont bother me as long as they aren't structural issues.

My new tele will have aging/"relicing" somewhere between closet clean and light relic, and the fret board will have a light aging on it.

If I have a choice to buy one that is new condition and one that has scars at the same price, i'd go for the new condition. but if I am buying it to keep and not for resale I am ok with the mojo of some dings
