Today I went to my regular music store-Reid Music in Mt. Pearl NL-and had another drool fest, they had to mop the floor. There was a lovely Jag Bass, a beautiful Squier Thinline Tele and Custom Tele but what really caught my eye was an Epi Les Paul. The Epi is a new limited edition with authentic Gibson Burstbuckers but it also has coil tap so you can have any combination of single coil/humbuckers that you like, with super-low action and it was only $510, I almost soiled my skivvies.Decisions decisions I love the Squier Teles and always wanted a Thinline and Custom but where the Epi is limited edition and so cheap I figure that I should go for that first as you don't know when they'll be discontinued. The Teles are always available so with Christmas in the future and where my dear better half has bought me guitars the past 3 Christmases I think she should folow through the tradition.Don't you?

I don't know much about it at all and the guys at the store knew very little about it as it only came in on Friday,in fact they hadn't noticed that it had Gibson Burstbuckers until I pointed it out.Apparanty it's a new limited edition but it's the most original and versatile guitar I've seen come from the Gibson/Epiphone camp in ages. There may be something on the Epiphone website at www.epiphone.com .For $510 it's almost a gift, I gotta be real real nice to the Missus for the next while.

i would get numbers on how many of the pauls were made.
just because something is advertised as "limited edition"
doesnt mean that it is. its all in the wording really. if they only made
say 100,000, thats is a limited edition, meaning that they only plan to make so many of them.
now if there were only 5,000 of them made, thats even better as a
limited edition, but not as good as say 500.
so look at the numbers and tell me which really is the limited edition
by the way your thinking?

The tag said Burstbuckers but that could have been a mistake, either way it's a real bargain.Way Cool I'm well aware about some so called limited editions but I'm wondering if it means in this case that it will only be in production for a short period of time.My John Lennon '65 Casino is a true limited edition as there are only 1965 of them made and my '63 Hagstrom Corvette although it isn't lsted as one is truly a limited edition as there were less than 1500 made over a 4 yr. period.

Go to the Epiphone website through that link, Click on "Special Runs" The first one, the '59 les paul comes with burstbuckers. I would rather have a vintage sunburst than cherry, still a nice guitar

Do you know what kind of Burstbuckers it has?

Also does it say anything about the rest of the electronics?

All the info says is Alnico V Burstbuckers with coil tap and nothing about the electronics inside. One would think/hope that with Burstbuckers they'd at least opt for CTS pots.

Hmm. Sounds like BB Pros. (I could be wrong.. I didn't look up the guitar)

I have a BB3 in my SG but it's pretty different from the BB Pros.

The BB 1 2 and 3 are sort of vintage PAF replicas. The BB Pros are a more modern style pickup used in Les Paul Standards.

Either way they're good pickups and if that €pi plays good it's a really sweet buy.
