I was wondering if anyone had into insight to the Tele on this video. This is from Guns'n Roses Use Your Illusion tour vid- circa '92 I think. I love this version of 'Wild Horses'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZC6YbNL ... re=related

The Tele as far as I can see is a '62 Telecaster Custom in Candy Apple Red. The thing that really gets me is whether it is a re-issue or not. The binding is very white, and the bridge has 6 saddles & the guitar overall looks clean and new. Yet- there were no AVRI Tele Customs back then, and that leaves me to believe it could be japanese (if there were any '62 custom re-issues in late eighties-1991 era)- or completely NOS.

Another important question I want to ask is whether or not he is using a little chorus or not?. I ask because this tele sounds nice- what do you think, judging from the sound- what pickups, and amp settings are being used? It sound very full so I am automatically assuming that he is using a few stacked marshalls.

Bearing in mind, GnR didnt use many effects aside from the basics. It was using gain on an amp for rhythym guitar- Delay, Wah and compression using gain for lead- both from Marshall Stacks. Slash uses Jubilee however I dont know what Gilby Clarke used. Both also used a little reverb.

What do you all think?

It could have been made for him if its no original, I think the custom shop was going in 91.
Theres definitely some chorus on there.

Thats a Tele he'd had for years as he used it in his old band Kill for Thrills, not sure what it is though. Looks to be some form of 62, perhaps a Japanese release?

Gilby used Vox AC30's and a slight touch of chorus when using his Teles although he didn't use Teles as much as Izzy Stradlin did before him.

Cheers,

CC

Also Blertles bro GN'R's rhythm players rarely used Marshall heads, just the cabs occasionally as Izzy Stradlin used a 60's Bassman head usually with a Mesa cab with EV speakers at the top and Celestions at the bottom. He did however use Marshall's sometimes.

Gilby was always a Vox AC30 guy and had them pumping through Marshall cabs in his GN'R days.
