Bill,
I've been waiting for the new DigiTech pedals, and recently discovered the Tascam DP 004 Digital 4 track recorder. My thinking is with the G-Dec 30 I can use a different amp setting on each track. Not sure the loopers would do that.
My 2 cents worth,

I think that plan has merit... and its priced right

Thanks for the "tip"

Bill

merit maybe, but it will not take the place of a quality looper my any means.

I some times wish I would have purchase a "physical" recorder like that... instead of my Logic software... but with Logic I can make tons of tracks, my issue is something easy to get them in the mix of my Guitar/Amp/Pedal rig
I guess thats why Im thinking looper, not necessarily for recording, but for just starting the backing track. I could use a lap top.... Gee that sounds kind of geekey

:D

Guess I could just go along with the backing tracks on YouTube, but there are times when I want more. To me, the loopers are great on the fly, and maybe the new DigiTech Stereo looper has more studio potential than I currently understand.
I just find being able to move and alter 8 tracks, then storing them on the computer a more long term solution.
If pocket depth was not part of the equation, then a looper for the first draft and the DP 008 for the final arranging would be the way to go IMHO.

Damn G.A.S. cloud,

i plug a CD player into my Boss 20XL. i can sample a rhythm
loop it and add track from there.
then with the 4track above you can mix it all down if you like. a poor mans recording studio actually. as for backing tracks i buy backing CD's from guitar center and other music stores. some very nice stuff to be had actually. i have 3 or 4 i use regularly too.
