so the eagles are coming to toledo in october. i get a call from a friend to see if we want to go...sounds like fun.

ticket prices range from 45 to 170 bucks, plus ticketbas... i mean ticketmaster charges. friends of ours received an e-mail stating that because they have american express, they can get tickets early. (they go on sale here locally on monday) she gets on early, and finds it impossible to get more than 2 tickets together. a few hours later, tickets are on craigslist, of course at a much higher price. by the time monday comes around, you'll be lucky to get tickets at all.

i think i am done supporting these greedy sob's. i know all about the free market i am sure you will remind me of. but when you can get a groups whole c d catalogue for less than the price of 1 ticket, something is wrong.

the sad part is that many of the groups like the eagles whio have been around for a while used to rail against these prices and ticket practices, but now don't care about joe average.

i think i'll take my cash and go find some local bands who deserve my support.

ok- i'm done ranting!

yes phreddy, i'm with you. there is not one big name band i'd spend that kind of cash on today. i can't afford it and they're not worth it in my opinion. it's ridiculous. i haven't seen a "big" name act in awhile except for uncle ted and even those tickets were a little pricey. if i'm going to spend 100 bucks for one ticket, here's what i'll expect.......
a recliner sidestage where i can watch in my boxer shorts
my own personal waitress
the band will play all my requests
i'll introduce the band
for the encore, i'll be asked to play

needless to say, i'm done with overpriced shows. good ole local music for me and the missus. yes, i am a cheap beastard.

100 bucks a ticket. for what????

I saw Springsteen about 18 months ago here in Phoenix, a friend of mine bought me a ticket for my birthday. I think they were like $40. but heres the thing. Bruce played for three solid hours, the whole E Street band was there, including Steve Van Zant AND Nils Lofgren, Excellent show and I MIGHT have paid $100. if I had the cash. I don't think many other bands will put on a show like that and I haven't been to a large concert since. We have a Blues Bar here in Phoenix call the Rhythm Room. They get some good Shows there. I think Leon Russel just was there. anyway, Your right, Overpriced large shows, and most of the time, they come up short on the performance. 8) Also I would pay $100. to see The Black Crowes

Hey phreddybee; TOTALLY AGREE. That's just not right. I go back to when you wanted tickets, you bought them without all the strings attached.

You know Springsteen is probably one of the very very few I would pay the high prices for. You get a show of epic proportions and the quality is incredible.

This is the part that impresses me the most, he has been touring for, well what seems like actually forever and he still goes out there and gives it everything. I like that he stays away from this whole rock star persona rubbish that so many artists feel like they should have. The guys all about the music and he's top notch at him.

I paid $71 for 2nd row seats to see Bonamassa in November and would do it again without hesitation....but it would have to be someone I really really want to see in order to spend that kind of money. Right now I am debating on dropping about $60 to go see Buddy Guy Sept 11

It is a sad commentary on the state of the music industry I think, The last time the Eagles came to Portland, the CHEAP seats were over 100 bucks and if you wanted the premium seats, 1.049.00 each!
Okay, those seats included a meet and greet with the band, but still it seems a bit outrageous to me.

Now, the last two "Big Name" shows I went to were 38 Special and just last night Huey Lewis and the news. Both were playing at Chinook winds casino on the Oregon coast, 38 special seats, 15.00 each. Huey was 35.00 a seat. The venue is the casinos theater and it seats at the most 4000, there is no bad seats anywhere in that theater.
AND you could order dinner and have a beer or mixed drink, as they had waitresses working the floor throughout the show.

The show was great I highly recommend if you get the chance to see either of these bands you do so, it would have ben a deal at twice the price.

i remember my first concert- 1968- steppenwolf, and i think vanilla fudge opened. i went to the venue site like everybody else, and paid my 2.50 ticket. no extras- everybody had the same shot at the tickets.

now you have to have the right credit card to get the early shot. those who do buy extra tickets, sell them to reselling outlets, and make a few extra bucks. try to sell your tickets at a higher price outside the arena before the show, and you get arrested for scalping. these outlets are treated differently. they won't even allow you to sell tickets at regular price outside of the jla in detroit.

its frustrating to see a ticket price in an ad, only to find out that the extra costs can drive up the price like crazy. remember when rock and roll was anti-greed? the times they are a-changin'.

Tickets for almost anything nowadays have gone through the roof. We have 3 sports teams in this city and it will cost you a minimum of $100 for cheap seats. Then you add parking, and food.

My one daughter went to see John Mayer last week for $69.50 per ticket and then a "convenience" charge. My other daughter had me drive her and her friends, along with another dad, for 2 hours to see Taylor Swift. My wife nor my daughter would tell me what they paid for the ticket. I finally got it out of them. Ready for this? $180!!!!! Now they were by the stage, and one of the girls ended up with the Ohio State jersey Taylor was wearing during the performance. So fer her it was worth it. I think I paid $17.50 to see Springsteen on New Years Eve.

The only show I wanted to see last year was ZZ Top opening for Aerosmith at $199 +. Then Tyler fell off a stage and saved me a few $$$.

A lot of shows have been canceled this year because of the economy/ticket prices.

Last summer AC/DC had a stadium show here in Edmonton. I got online right at 10:00 when the tickets went on sale, 9:58 actually according to my computer. I sat and waited as my expected wait time rose from 5 mins all the way up to 30 mins before finally getting a message that said they had no tickets that met my request aka we're sold out. I asked for 2 tickets, anywhere, any price. I was so pissed at the thought that I got on right as the tickets went on sale only to be shut out of a place that probably held 50,000 or more. The next day at a family birthday I ran into my cousin and was bitching about what happened. He laughed and told me that he had forgotten about the tickets being on sale until about 10:15 and went online to get them. He spent the extra $40 to be a "AC/DC fan club member" and ended up with row 15 on the floor. I also saw tickets on ebay and kijiji with tonnes of tickets for sale by that afternoon. The moral of that story is that when it comes to a big name show the average guy who wants 2 tickets and doesn't want to get screwed into buying a fan club membership in order to get a seat is out of luck. I'm not even going to get into the insane prices that these people charge to see them.

For the recent Ozzfest, I paid $134 per ticket, which ... in my world ... is a LOT of money for concert tickets. But that did include seats that were only 10 rows behind the pit (so very close), 5 hours of performances by the three premium acts, free parking, free download of Ozzy's new album, and NO additional fees of any kind. All in all, it was a fair deal ...

By comparison, I paid $40 for an upcoming Rush show. These were for some front row on the second tier seats just to the side of the stage. That is an equitable deal any day of the week.

I seem to have pretty good connections and have never paid
a lot to see anyone. I hear that "live nation" is decent to deal with
for seating and pricing?
