What type of bass do you play or prefer, active or passive? Why do like that type bass?

I like the passive bass. I like the simplicity of passive basses. Not a lot of extra electronics to go wrong, or not work at all.

After having owned a number of passive basses over the years including 2 Precisions, an SG and an Ibanez Sound Gear I really like my current bass (Victor Bailey Jazz) which is active. I have had no electronics issues whatsoever. This will be my bass for life.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I have always had passive electronics in my bass guitars, I have played a few active electronic bass guitars at music stores and liked the idea of having the option. My next bass guitar will be a 5-string. If it sounds good without amplification it will be cool if that 1 has active/passive electronics.
