Hello,

I've noticed that a local guitar store had a Fender Jag that had block inlays instead of the dot markers seen on other web retailers.

It was priced slightly higher than the Classic Player Jaguars too.

Can anyone give me some information about this guitar?

The guitar is a '66 re-issue.

One of CBS's "contributions" to the Fender legacy was adding some deluxe features to the company's flagship instruments, specifically a bound neck and MOP block position markers. Both the Jaguar and Jazzmaster were so upgraded, as well as the Jazz Bass. The Stratocaster was advertised in the 65/66 catalog as having the binding only but very few of these guitars were ever built. Likewise, the still-born Fender Marauder was also intended to use a neck similar to the upgraded Jazzmaster but development ceased after only a handful of prototypes were made.

Fender-Japan has offered both the Jazzmaster and the Jaguar as '66 re-issues as well as periodic production runs of the bound-neck '65 Strat.

Thank you for the information :D

So, would you say that this kind of Jags are hard to come by at all?

I wanted to try out a Jag HH, but couldn't find one at the store :?

They're somewhat rare since the re-issue was a limited edition.

Hi JT ,the 66 reissue would certainly be a better choice over the HH Jag. The 66 has the true Jag single coil sound and the added tonal variations of the original Jag's versatile wiring circuit.
