Seems to me this post was just a trolling comment for some one to be making. I fimd none of that being said as true.

I have an old issue of Guitar World from the late 80s and Jeff said that he used Evans pickups-I don't know if they are even still in business. He did however stick with Squier I believe for his whole career. If Squier was good enough for Jeff they should be good enough for anyone,I imagine that he could have gotten a bitchin' sound out of just the stock pups.

Yep I checked one of my old GP's too and it was Evans. He also used Seymour Duncan SH-5's later on.
I remember the pups had an E in em. Sorry, a geezer moment and I was always a fan of his.

I've progressed from having geezer moments to geezer days-don't feel bad.

Yeah they were Evans, and I think I know where I might be able to get a set, if I can persuade someone to sell 'em.

Squiers are not as good as Fenders but are still pretty good for the money.

From all the testimonials I've read, and from my own experience, that's not necessarliy true.

And so is the Vintage Modified. Of which have the natural finish Jazz, for which I can vouch is a really great bass. About the only thing that seems remotely cheap (and I hesitate to use that word) is the finish on the neck is not "perfect" in a couple of spots on the back, but not enough to make a differenceto me. Again, I have read the same about others in the VM line. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another in either the CV or VM lines.

I don't believe I have ever heard anyone say that Squire is the worst brand in the world. There are so many easier targets for that title that I don't see how it could even occur to anyone to mention Squire in that light when we've got some REAL contenders for the title like:

Samick
Vantage
Mann
Hondo
Silvertone

The squires do have there place in the guitar world, they are great for the new player who is not sure they will stay with it.
If you have an Idea for a customized guitar that you do not want to invest too much into to see if it will work.

And if you want to play "Pete Townshend" they at least you won't be out a whole lot of money.

"its not good"

some things can be fixed, some things you may not want to fix when you learn about them. The Bros here can help with guitar everything, literally, plus there is Mike Eldred for custom questions. what is criteria for "its not good"?

OK.. I feel compelled to chime in here.

I play Squiers quite a bit. My band is averaging at least 10 shows a month, and that's being conservative. None of us have a whole lot of money. We LOVE Squiers. They really are the workhorses of the guitar world.

I wanted to chime in for a reason though. Of the Squiers I regularly use, my CV-60's really isn't my top of the line. There might be a little more hype than is warranted with that model. The biggest hype has always been with Japanese models. Fair enough, I've never really owned one. But so far, my personal favorites are Korean made. My Korean made Stagemaster neck-through guitars really are better than my CV in my opinion. And not by just a little, but a LOT!! I can't get near the low action on my CV as I can my Stagemasters. And it really is frustrating. The necks of my Korean built guitars are just far more solid.

I have an interesting opportunity coming up here in the near future to compare 3 different customized (by me) Squires that are considered top of the line.

#1-Squier CV-60's (CIC)- Benson Custom Hand-wound pickups
#2-Squier Stagemaster neck/through (MIK)
#3- Squier Esprit Matsrebuilt (MIK)

All of these models have surprised me at some point or another. But this will be my own personal test. One that I'm not optimistic that a CV would win.

Look.. As much as I'd like for it to be fact that a CV IS the best of the Squire world, I'm not convinced so easily.

My daughter plays a Squier Standard Stratocaster through a Frontman 25R and it sounds great. It stays in tune better than some American Standard Stats some band members have or had. I got her a good Fender case for it and she's love it. The Antique Burst finish on it is very good too.
