sure its nothing like its daddy company Fender but i think people shouldn't call it the "Worst guitar brand" in the world...although my lame strat is going to cause me big time,i think people shouldn't bag on squire and spit on its name...and whats also strange is that for most of the reviews i have read on GC and MF the squire guitars seems acceptable...why do people on the internet bag on squire.

so...post up your opinion now!

The Squire Classic Vibes are lovely. I think most things under FMIC have stepped up a few notches from what seems to be 2000 onwards and the Squire brand is no exception.

Hi and welcome to the forums
In my opinion, the only folks that trash Squires, are unifomed morons :?

Most any guitar in the hands of some one who can play can and will sound very sweet!

Squiers are great value. I only wish I could have got a guitar for that price that were that good in the lates 60s when I started playing. And then the same money was worth a lot more than it is now.

I know a few friends that use Squiers and have customized them to suit and they are great instruments for such a low price. The only thing they changed was to perhaps upgrade the pickups and electronics. But then many people do the same thing with much more expensive instruments. I use a couple of USA made strats with the classic rock band I play with. While I can tell the difference there is nothing about Squiers that I couldn't still play a gig with one and sound good. Most I have played have had nice necks and actions. About my only criticsm of a couple I picked up was that the frets hadn't been filed enough at the ends and protuded slightly which would have taken some work with a file to smooth them off. As I said that was only with a couple so it is not typical of most I have played.

I commend Fender on being able to produce a good instrument for peanuts. Beginner guitar players really have it good in this day and age. When friends have asked me to recommend a low price electric for their kids Squiers are at the top of my list.

Who spits on them? They have tons of potential for a beginner guitar and beyond. I know a lot of people who make them sound great.

I've never heard of this "Squire" brand that everyone here is talking about.

However, I have nothing but the highest regard for the Squier family of fine musical instruments. 8)

A guitar is only as good as the person playing it, no matter what name is on the headstock. I've played a Squier that had a neck that felt as good as my 57 Reissue. Granted it didn't sound as good, but that could of been due to the fact I didn't want it to sound as good ^^

Squiers are not as good as Fenders but are still pretty good for the money.

I have several different Squiers that are my guilty little pleasures! If anybody is familiar with the Vista Series Squiers from the 96-97 time period (Venus 6 and 12 string, Jagmaster, Super-Sonic and the MusicMaster Bass), you are in for a treat. These Squiers were Japanese built (except I think my MusicMaster is Chinese), and are a blast to play. They are good quality and sound good.

Those of you that follow my posts know I am absolutely a dyed-in-the-wool Tele addict, but a lot of times I'll put down my Tele for my Squier 51.

I absolutely love the 51 - I think it's a very unique looking and sounding guitar and they are a blast to mod. I've got several I'm gathering parts for and I have some interesting plans for them. Stay tuned.

I've had Squier Strats in the past and still have a Squier P-Bass I thump on.

So no - nothing wrong with a Squier - I think they are awesome guitars and it doesn't bother me a bit to take one out in front of my buddies and put it through the paces.

Well I think the Squire moved up a rung on the ladder when the Starcaster came out as the "new" entry level Fender Guitar. The Classic vibe series put them in the game. I played Squire Classic Vibe 50's Telecaster at GC and liked it a lot. I should have bought it then(last year) at $299. because the price has gone up to $349. ant I still want to get one. I'll have to let loose of the cash before the end of the year. 8)

Squiers are among the best values ever.

the classic vibes are certainly stage ready instruments, I'm not sure about the others.

Are they top of the line, no, but not every guitar needs all the bells and whistles.

the best guitarist I ever had the pleasure to talk with played a Squier (granted an old Japanese one, but Squier none the less.) he was blind, he only picked it for it's sound and feel. if it was good enough for him then I would hazard a guess it's more than good enough for you and anyone you know.

RIP

Jeff did change out the pickups though. He was blind, but in his interviews he knew full well what he was playing and he preferred the Squire Strat and I believe he used EMG pups.
