"A Million Miles Away" by Rory Gallagher from Irish Tour '74 is one of the
greatest guitar moments ever !! Rory manipulates his 1961 strat volume and tone controls in a way that mesmerizes the listener and this is done without pedals or effects. If you have never heard this song ( and in particular if your're a Strat fan) drop what you are doing and get it - there's plenty of guitar gems here for anyone. "Tattoo'd Lady" has a fantastic solo where Gallagher plays a distinct rhythm and solo at the same time in parts. Muddy Waters " I Wonder Who" will have you mouth , eyes and ears wide open !!!!!!

But...................to me................. "Crest of a Wave" on Rory's Deuce album is his #1 - recorded when he was only 23, this is possibly the greatest slide guitar solo of all time - easily in the top 5 !

Again I will say it .... there is no other guitarist of this caliber who could play electric, acoustic and slide guitar, sing, write, produce and be a multi-instrumentalist ( harmonica, mandolin, sitar, saxophone, NOT ONE !!!!!

Are you able to post about anything other then Rory? It is a Fender forum ya know.

It's killing me.....you've got that Harrison lyric wrong in your sig. The line is "never glimpse the truth". There, now I feel better 8)

What album is hendrix doing day tripper on?

I couldn't find my old cassette last night but I think it is back when he was with Curtis Knight.

The Wish You Were Here album by Pink Floyd.
Theres just something about Shine On, but it works best with the whole album rather than the cut down live version.

And any Hendrix song of course :P

i have to sy that l"free bird" is just one of those songs that gets my blood flowing. pretty good. jimy's little wing is also a big favorite and i have to agree that pink floyd's comfortably numb is one of the best written songs ever.
