They and Brett Favre should produce their own reality TV (soap opera) shows.

the smith boys have been around for a long time, went through some seriously tough times together too.
hopefully they can get it back on track and continue to bring us great music like they have been doing.
tyler is back on drugs and its looking a lot like the old days for them.
for those that remember, it use to be real bad.
we almost lost them as a band several times. to think of all the great songs that we wouldnt have if that had happened.
i believe it was permanent vacation album that was their first clean and sober album. a good friend of mine was their sound engineer for yrs.
man the stories he would tell me.

Been around for 40 years and Tyler is 63 years old, Hang it up and start new projects and enjoy the past fame I say.

From what I've heard recently, The Rolling Stones plan to do one more tour and will finally call it a day, if only Kiss and Aerosmith would do the same.

I don't know what it is with the Stones and these other relics. Habit, addicted to money? Or whatever. Grace Slick once said something along the lines of there being nothing more pathetic than a bunch of geriatric musicians still trying to act out and relive their heyday. I actually feel embarrassed when I see some of these bands play. For example, Blue Oyster Cult. These guys are for the most part pushing or in their 60s yet they still come together on stage with their "senior spreads" and bald hiding bandannas for a group kneel down during what is evidently supposed to be a 'spirited' guitar solo, played on a Steinberger no less which visually further accentuates their collective advancing age. What is to be gained by grandfatherly types exhibiting such behavior? Are people supposed to be seriously impressed that this "Golden Age" clique can still play the same stuff they have been playing over and over and over again non-stop for the last 30 some odd years? Or how about when Van Halen was up and coming where they resurrected the Kinks hit, "You Really Got Me" to a level of popularity well beyond anything the Kinks' were capable of? Yet, the Kinks concurrently and live dismally tried to out do Eddie's entire interpretation of same, right down to the lead break. I mean, come on! Davies should have simply banked the residuals without making a monumental fool out of himself and the rest of the geezers.

As always, the above is merely IMO where YMMV.

There's mature musicians out there playing music that has advanced along with their age,but they are few and far between....and I think the blues scene is one of the most forgiving concerning age.
Even country music has become a young person's game, where it was once okay for an aging, seasoned performer to still be in the front lines, center stage, now they are dinosaurs.
R&R has been and always be a young generation thing,no matter how much it changes....to live, and perform forever the same hits you did 30/40 years earlier,is a sad thing to watch.

The Stones released Bigger Bang in '05 and KISS released Sonic Boom in '09 so at least both bands are making some new music while still playing the classics their fans love.

IMO, if a band's fans age along with them and still enjoy their show than their age is of little consequence to anyone except the people who don't like them.

BB King is so out shape, aged, and overweight that he can't hardly get out of his chair to play, but his fans still love him.

Peter Frampton lost the golden locks and aquired bi-focals but when he plays the talkbox his fans are still loving it.

Lynyrd Skynyrd hardly has any originals living much less in the band, but they still garner a big following at their shows.

Of course, I'll defend the point because I've been a KISS fan since '78 and still look forward to their concerts when I can go. But most people on here consider them a joke so I wouldn't expect much support for them. When I first heard Shout it Out Loud and Detroit Rock City I was a teen, so the fact that maybe Paul can't jump as high in platforms while playing them now is pretty unimportant, because I've aged too.

But I think I'm in the minority here, my opinion only.

It is interesting to note that Ozzy Osbourne is one who comes off being just as cool as ever. He is in shape, his hair is intact, and he was never a wild showman even when back in his '20s. Also, he still sings as good as ever. Hats off to Ozzy ... He was as good last night (yes, I just saw him) as he was on the Blizzard of Ozz tour with Rhoades (yes, I saw him back then, too). It helps having a band like Ozzy that have ridiculously amazing chops, but Ozzy still really delivers ...

Tyler took another tumble off the stage the other night in Toronto I believe it was but fans were able to catch him,he'll either have to start performing in hockey or football gear or get a guardrail put around the stage.I wonder if he was one of those kids who wore a helmet and took the little bus to school.

Guys, in the big scheme of things.. what does it really matter. If they are happy and not wanting to retire who are we to judge?

+1

If the fans don't show up to the concerts and don't buy the CDs, they'll get the hint. Just like Anvil...

I know Tyler and Peter Wolf of the J Giels Band got into a bit of a disagreement when they played Fenway Park in Boston last Friday night.

Tyler told Wolf he didn't want him to use the platform going out into the crowd during the J Giels act. Wolf I think told him to shove it where the Sun don't shine and did anyway. There was no mingling of the two well-known Boston Bands for a Finale. Too bad ...

Tyler needs to get a grip. Or a room at Betty Ford Clinic for a while...

But I'm a bigger J Giels Band Fan so I'm partial...

I've always been of the belief that if someone does well in life and I am a fan of it it does not give me the rights to go snooping into their private relations. It's none of my business. I'm just grateful for what they have given me. End of. If they can sort things and continue then I am the lucky one, if they can't then fair enough, they have already given me so much.

I saw Aerosmith and had the pleasure of meeting them and hanging out wi Brad and Tom at Download in Donington 2 months ago. The show they put on was astounding. Best I ever saw and I have been lucky enough to have witnessed great talent in my days. Nothing lasts forever.

I heard a rumor that Brett Favre was joining Aerosmith.

At least he was thinking about it.

Oh, I think I heard about it in a post in this thread ...

whats up orvilleowner?

Always liked Aerosmith, have seen them twice, hope they stay together.

If the music is good, young or old is not discernable.
