Since this is a Fender forum- both Clapton & Hendrik use/used Fender all the time- and I respect all who use Fender. But Jimi Hendrix is my #1 guitarist of all time... Period

It's a close run thing, but I voted for Clapton, simply because he was an influence from my earliest days, and is still producing great stuff today. If only Jimi was still with us....

As the one who posted the poll I should have declared my preference: Clapton. As a man once said, before Clapton "Blues" was a dirty word. A young man from Surrey in England - and not new Orleans, or Chicago - gave us a connection back to the beginning of modern music. The Beano album; Cream; Derek; his solo work. Awesome catalogue.

I like both, but I had to vote for Jimi.

i vote Clapton because he is a great guitar player. i enjoy Hendrix and all, but i think tht sometimes he was just a little overrated. and if you look at Clapton, he has performed with so many big name artists.

Jimi played with Eric, or was it the other way around?

As Jimi once said, Clapton couldn't play rhythm guitar for anything.

Yes, that is a tough pick for me. A year ago, it would have been EC. Jimi should not have been a judge of rhythm players though since he was certainly one of the best that ever lived. Jimi was an awesome player who came up thru the ranks of the r&b music played at the time. It was a very tough scene.

Yes, I have always thought Jimi's attack on EC's playing was uncalled for and smacked of bitterness. At least EC can play in perfect tune and hits 99.5% of the notes he goes for.

"Don't get too lost in all I say"

Jimi said a lot of things. And you might say he had "a lot on his mind". He had a great regard for EC, but I don't think they were ever good friends.

But imagine what could have happened if they were...

I know they played together a few times. I have been trying to find recordings, because you know someone had to have recorded that.
