Amazing!

Ha - well, since yesterday I've done some asking around locally and this turns out to be exactly right! Whadayaknow?

Seems Spielberg is directing a film of the book/stage play Warhorse, set in the First World War. The story begins on the edge of Dartmoor and for once in movie history they are actually filming it where it is set! Apparently they are at work in a little village called Meavy on the western edge of the moors - very picturesque.

I haven't read the book but the stage play was fabulous. My wife and I took several visiting American friends to see it, including someone who is a Holywood film lawyer: I'd love to think that was how word was transmitted back to movieland but I suspect we don't deserve the credit...

Still raining a lot over here so I'm just not quite prepared to drag myself out on a moorland photographic search for Spielberg and his film set - but I'll be sure to catch that movie when it comes out (summer 2011, apparently).
